Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

@bebelamoraes said: I can't find much logic in it... the 64-Bit OpenGL stack of the used video driver is faulty, therefore using the 32-Bit version of SU and its 32-Bit OpenGL API calls helps. If ever buying something new, go for a dedicated nVidia GeForce GTX series.

Jaguarrh, As an alternative to Procad who seem to just provide a basics course, sketchuptraining.com.au do a couple of more advanced courses; one that covers Visualisation/rendering with Sketchup and a course for producing technical drawings with Sketchup and Layout. The courses focus mostly on architecture and building design but they do cover terrain modelling as well as the use of advanced plugins to extend Sketchup's capabilities. They seem to specialise only in Sketchup unlike the others you mention and if you look at the gallery on the website or follow the link to the Facebook page, they have some very impressive examples. It says that courses are held once or twice a year in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Worth a look... Grice

If it is already colored you can actually edit the color in the materials list and change it. Yes I know, the color gray is now yellow or something like that. [image: wHus_changecolor.png]

Hello: Look in Sketchucation Plugin Store for "Flattery" by Pumpkin Pirate. The description seems to fit your need. Otherwise, a related possibility in the 3d printing Category search list. The 3d printing Category list is fairly short, but one of the titles seems to fit your request.

Don't know why this has happened but a reinstall of SU might have fixed it. We'll see...

If you have to make a lot of revisions, it's generally best to keep the line styles as simple as you can.

I started using SketchUp in 2001 or 2002 when I went to a ten week course in SketchUp and AutoCAD. I did all the beginner errors but slowly built my knowledge of the program. It's mostly been a pleasant journey but I still think it should have been developed more into a professional tool but I won't go into that here...

I tried that same beam connection skp and got 56k too, so my other elevation file must have more 'data' on it.

Do you think he is being truthful or not? By showing your version of the picture we respond to your vision of the story. Does his version hold any ground? Doing what Baz said could either ruin his carreer from the start if he is starting. This kind of delays are typical from someone starting on his line of business, or typical of someone trying to con you. They could also be related to many other things... What do you think it's happening? Going social will probably cause great havok to him, but it could also turn against yourself. Could you show up at his place of work and try seeing his work? If so, I would do what Paul Russam suggests, as I believe your entitled to, but I would also try solving this face to face, giving him one last chance for redemption. But I know nothing more...

@joe wood said: On my old computer I had Corel Draw and I would mainly use it to create full sized pdf templates of various parts of my structures. I'd export dxf, bring them into Corel, and then 'Publish' them to pdf. You can take that pdf to a printer and get a full sized template printed. I need a similar program on my new computer, so what should I get, Adobe Illustrator, stick with Corel, or something else?? I don't know graphics very well. If you prefer to stick to your previous workflow, have a look at Inkscape. It's open source, you can import dxf files. Install a pdf printer and you're done. Of course, you would be missing all the benefits of having a real-time link between a sketchup model and Layout. So if you want to improve your workflow you might be better off investing time in Layout.

@blackdogsketch said: ... It doesn't seem that YOU are doing it to reduce image export time. if it was too me... overall, you reduce the export time mainly by splitting out the shadows from the textures and any raster line work... here's a realtime export of a simple model... ignore the fact it's crammed so small for the gif, the shadows were 4000px wide, line work 2000 and 3000 texture 2000 ignore the plugin resizing the window, I just added my code in it to save some time coding... I also used a vivid background because I was doing all the post in code and it made it easier... but the principle is the same for manually making these... have x number of style and one scene per view... for each scene export an image, sized depending on the style... i.e. shadow style was biggest because I wanted the most control over it...
