Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

In addition to what Sonder says here, I do recall "zoom extents" is also required to maintain scale on export. Which may help explain the cropping of the scale bar in your first image? Charlie

Try searching for 'Hammered Copper Sheet' or 'Planished Copper Sheet' for the base texture.

I know of two that import OBJ's with textures... The Fluid importer is fastest, but costs a few $. My older/slower OBJ-importer is 'free' [you can of course donate!]. There are a few others - I think they only bring in geometry ? An OBJ file that has materials associated with it almost always ships with an MTL file. This defines the materials. It is almost always expected to be in the same folder as the OBJ. To check this read the OBJ in a plain-text editor - near the start it usually sets up the MTL file. Assuming you have an MTL file associated properly with the OBJ... That defines the materials' colors. You can also read that in a plain-text editor. If a material has an associated texture, then the path to its image-file is specified in the MTL code. Usually these image-files reside in a named subfolder, which is given in the path for each material. Occasionally a 'non-standard' MTL expects its image-files to be in the same folder as the MTL itself. Read your OBJ... Find the associated MTL. Ensure it's in the correct place when importing the OBJ. Read the MTL and ensure any needed image-files are also in the correct folder or subfolder... Once it's set up right, then any importer which respects materials should work...

The 'SketchUcation Toolset' also has an 'Uninstaller' in its submenu. If you use that tool it renames the 'loader' .RB in your Plugins folder as .RBX so it then no longer loads or even gets listed in the disabled plugins in the 'SketchUcation Plugins Manager'. Provided that the RBX still exists it appears in the 'Unistaller' dialog and can be 'reinstalled' if desired. However if you open your Plugins folder [also possible by using the SketchUcation Toolset's submenu item] and find the now uninstalled RBX version and delete that file it's no longer listed. For tidiness you might also want to find any matching subfolder using the same name [common in many newer Extensions], and delete that too... Of course, to see these changes you'll need to restart SketchUp, because dynamic unloading an extension etc is NOT possible within a current session...

Sonder, To be fair then I also should be more clear. I have my vertical sections on the same model too because what I do on horizontal sections, I also do on vertical sections. Also vertical sections have the added value of easily show the particular spaces where 3d models need more attention. It makes it easy to navigate to a place where you need more work done in the model and it's easy to get inside it with the active section. I used to do that with temporary sections but I tended to forget to erase those or I sometimes would erase sections I should keep. These are the reasons that make it difficult to disconnect them from the model I'm working with. However, I'm pretty sure this conversation will come to mind when it fits a particular building's workflow. Thanks again,

The standard instal of 'Texture Resizer' on a mac uses sips, so it doesn't even call ImageMagick... and it can use Goldilocks automatically... if you had posted on that thread, others who have posted there will get emails and may be able to help... post there and see who responds... AS for editing materials from within SU, I and others have made a few post of how to get that working again... john

@atrodler said: Did you ever find a fix for this? I've been going through the same thing, following your (and some others) threads here and on reddit. Extremely frustrating bug. I'm getting the exact same results as you. Currently having to export textures in .dae format anytime I need to edit one. Then re-import, resize, replace, purge old, etc etc etc.

If anybody is interested, here's a link to the thread started by my post on this subject on the Sketchup Community forum. While the issue isn't totally "solved," I'm satisfied with the answers I got from the SketchUp team, and particularly some of John's explanations were quite helpful. http://forums.sketchup.com/t/2016-push-pull-double-click-pulls-in-opposite-direction/23140

... maybe also Renderiza´s [SU]Ch plugin could be an interesting option as well? In addition to the option to decide which content should be exported (i.e. shadows, lines, etc.) I really like the possibility to export images in any resolution, regardless of the currently used SU viewport size. http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=482123#p482123 https://extensions.sketchup.com/de/content/such

Similar problem. OS X 10.11.4 SU Pro 16 New Wacom Intuos Pro med. Wireless space mouse - JFTR, works incredibly well with SU. Massive speed improvement for me in navigating 3D. However finding Wacom really inaccurate for picking up points and moving. On small projects the move tool stutters and jerks around. Thought it was human error at first... tried every setting in Wacom config wasting several hours... Picked up 2D outline of basement to move with Wacom - useless!!! Really wasting time and effort to place. Put pen down - picked up mac mouse without de-selecting object. Object moved and snapped perfectly!! Would appreciate any suggestions - close to boxing Wacom and send back for refund. Thanks

The reason for this is because your new iMac has a very high resolution display. There are many threads on this subject here on SCF. As a workaround you can reduce the resolution of your display or see this where slbaumgartner has offered a set of double-sized images for the tools and other graphics.
