Have you tried my 3pt rectangle plugin? Not sure it does what you want though.

The load vray for sketchup button of this plugin does not work with vray 3.4 for sketchup. Any fix for this?

The error is is the first like: Error Loading File C:/Users/Jaydeep Dandecha/AppData/Roaming/SketchUp/SketchUp 2016/SketchUp/Plugins/vfs.rb It has nothing to do with the 'SketchUcation Plugin'. There is something incompatible with the version of Vray that you are trying to use. The Ruby version changed significantly with the last three SketchUp versions - often requiring an updated version of an extension to be installed... Your error report seems to suggest 'vfs.rb' is causing problems when it tries to load other files from its subfolder... and also tt's vray tools which needs vray loaded too... Can I suggest you download and install the newest version of Vray you can find... See if that helps. Failing that you must disable Vray - use the SketchUp ExtensionStore³ Plugins Manager - disable the 'vfs' and 'tt_vray_tools' plugins listed as enabled and restart SketchUp - the error should now be sidestepped.

Hi all, I've been looking at this problem for some time. I've now started using Afanche3D Pro (£29'ish) which is a 3D file viewer. It can import STEP files (and others) and export to DAE (and other formats). I've found it very us usfull. The STEP files I receive are usually in mm so I've set Afanche3D Pro System Length Unit to mm and the Default File Importing Length Unit to cm (these setting are found in the Options (Grey cog in tools above work area). This is so it enlarges by 10. I then export as a DAE and import this into SketchUp. Because the units in my SU are set as mm the DAE file will import at x10 (that makes it x1000 the original model size). Afanche do some other viewers that only open one file type (i.e. STEP viewer £23)

Also take a look at Scene Exporter Pro on Smustard, I've used it since many years ago (just the other day in SU2017), works like a charm.

According to my observations there is still much work to be done to claim that "interoperability" between different BIM software is something real (not just a good intention). For now it seems like even big players in the field haven't yet figured out how to provide a way to interact (fully and safely) with objects transferred using IFC format between BIM software of each other. However progress in this direction never stops, for example I've seen recently a new interesting innovation, which allows to insert a reference to an IFC file into a project, so it is possible to collaborate with engineers, detect clashes etc: https://youtu.be/vUNxCW3weH4 Changes in a referenced IFC file can be observed in a project after refreshing (similar to a model inserted into LayOut) as far as I understood. BTW big players may deliberately restrict interoperability between products of each other to protect their market position maybe (just an assumption though). Maybe it is the reason why progress in this direction is not that fast as we all would like. I'm not sure how much time it may take to make possible to start working with some IFC file using one software package, then safely continue working with that same file using another software, then save to cloud and proceed editing using third software right in a browser window On the other hand I have to admit that different software packages perceive even simple common objects like walls, slabs, openings sometime very differently (provide different ways to create/interact/edit) and such difference obviously affects how information about even basic elements is stored. Standardized data storing format even if it is excessive like IFC still may impose restrictions on certain functionality provided by certain software. So sometimes it feels like even smooth and lossless transfer between different BIM software products is something unachievable by definition not to mention real interoperability.

@tammaotrinhtham said: Hello, sorry for digging up years old thread. I wonder if anyone can help this work with the newest version of sketchup. I just installed it in SketchUp 2017 and it works as described. What makes you think it doesn't work?

I don't understand how to operate this. It just creates two scenes (Default and a_-180░) then does nothing.

I know it's not being updated anymore, but has anyone tried it with SketchupMake2017? I could really use a tool like this right now, but when I use this one to create a RAW file, the uploader tells me "There was an IO Exception loading your terrain. Please check free space." The server log for the application: "[TERRAIN]: Error Saving a terrain file uploaded via the estate tools. It gave us the following error: System.IO.EndOfStreamException: Unable to read beyond the end of the stream." Is there another way to export mesh as a RAW file?

Didn't google force https for websites? I thought I read something about that a week or so ago (by Rich O' Brien) when this very website / forum was moved to https... It may (or may not) have something to do with that.

Tom, time flies and I read your post just now. I guess it depends how long does it take to hide/unhide objects in SketchUp. I just started working on a solution using Blender https://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=180%26amp;t=67569

tamic I use it with SketchUp 7.0 It saves new textures either in the folder your model is saved or in a temporary folder and then replaces materials in the model so you should see it right away I just started a similar project but using Blender https://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=180%26amp;t=67569

. ops, sorry few copy errors : try this code @m=Sketchup.active_model;@s=@m.selection;@d=@m.definitions;@s[0].definition.behavior.no_scale_mask = 4 ; Sketchup.send_action('selectScaleTool;') you can find this in the sketchup API: http://ruby.sketchup.com/Sketchup/Behavior.html#no_scale_mask=-instance_method i don't find it very clear, but more or less: you have 7 numbers (bits). each representing a pair of handles. when the bit is 0, the particular handle pair is visible. when the bit is 1 the handle pair is hidden. @unknownuser said: Bit0: disable scale along red (X), Bit1: disable scale along green (Y), Bit2: disable scale along blue (Z), Bit3: disable scale in red/blue plane (X+Z), Bit4: disable scale in green/blue plane (Y+Z), Bit5: disable scale in red/green plane (X+Y), Bit6: disable scale uniform (from corners) (XYZ). take 1111000 as an example. the bits from left to right are bit6, bit5, bit4, bit3, bit2, bit1, bit0. in this example, bits 6, 5, 4,and 3 are all hidden. the only visible ones are the blue, green and red: bits 2, 1 and 0. this 'combination' is given in the form of an integer. if you take the example above, the 1111000 number is the 'binary' conversion of 120. here's a place where you can do a conversion: http://acc6.its.brooklyn.cuny.edu/%7Egurwitz/core5/nav2tool.html so, you can decide your combination of ones and zeroes (your seven bits) use the converter to get the corresponding integer use the ruby code above to test the integer. hope it makes sense unfortunately you cannot activate it permanently - you can use the script from this thread (and change the handle numbers you prefer). and yes, there is a lot of 'strange' about sketchup - but we do love it anyway! .

It would be nice if the tool supports showing just one unit, that is different than the current units and also if it could support custom units (e.g. cm/2) with custom annotations (so if something measures 10cm, I can make the dimensions show "5cm" using the tool). This is good to allow scaling while retaining dimensions of the pre-scaled geometry
