Is there a script that allows one using the subtract tool without deleting the first part?
As it is now, I have to make a copy of the 1st solid, place it in a nearby spot, do the subtraction and then place the copy back to the original place...

        Jonas,
It sounds like Subtract works a bit like Bool Tools plugin.
        ........
        Try...
        Copy
        <Perform Subtract Operation>
then PASTE IN PLACE (as opposed to Paste) - Original geometry restored to EXACT position
        ...........
To speed things up a bit more Define "Copy", by default <Ctrl> + C and "Paste in Place" on Quick Short Cut Key Strokes
(Window - Preferences - Short Cuts)
        .............
        Hope this Helps

I think you need to use trim instead of subtract.

              Well, what can I say...
Trim was the one I was looking for. It sat there all the time, just in front of my nose. 😳

              Thanx.

Although Trim is what you want, you may find this useful sometimes. Select the first component (the one you would place the copy of off to the side) and choose Copy (Ctrl+C, Edit>Copy, etc.) Perform the operation as needed. Now click Edit>Paste in place et Voilà! All done.

                  Hi,

I am having a similar problem. Each time I subtract (tried different plug-ins as well) my main object is damage and prevent further subtractions. Anyone has a trick of how to subtract a grid of cylinders on a cube? I am trying to produce roundish pyramids.

                  Here are the files:

I don't have access to SketchUp at the moment so this is a guess. Try scaling the model up by a factor of 100 before executing the Subtract operation. From your screen shots it would appear there are some tiny gaps due to faces not forming. This is a well know issue when working at small dimensions.

Dave nailed it, scale up by ten and it works fine.

That plugin has been abandoned and hasn't worked for several versions.
