Jerry, Perhaps creating a railing set at a mean ° that you can scale using FredoScale(free plug-in): "Box Planar Shearing" would be a solution?.(see .skp below) This method will maintain all vertical rail parts 100%, and only slightly alter the raked parts as long you are scaling ± within a few degrees of the mean° default rail set. I used "target mode" while having "Box Planar Shearing" selected to alter the mean°(38.5°) rail set to parallel the new stair set(37.8°). It will take a little practice to get used to FredoScale, but just experiment and see if it suits your needs. Best Regards, Charlie sketchup railing_38.5.skp

actually, my sketchup pro 2017 (v17.0.18899) was working properly, without any problem! I just Uninstall and reinstall it again (v17.2.2555) and this problem appeared!. I read and do many many things such as checking my local and language option but everything was ok! so last night just uninstall the sketchup (v17.2.2555) and install the version ([highlight=#ffff80:2wtf7s7m]v17.0.18899[/highlight:2wtf7s7m]), and without any change to my regional and language Option everything is fine.

@jga said: Matthieu NOBLET released a plugin Recall_last_tool.rb that worked with SU7, but I've found it didn't appear to work with SU201* versions. Depending on what kind of errors occur, that could be because SketchUp changed from Ruby 1.8 to Ruby 2.0 in 2014, or it could be due to changes in the SketchUp API. It is quite common for older plugins, especially way back to SU7, to need updating for new versions of SketchUp.

I think the basic rule is you can't soften border edges. So yes you can soften all edges at once except those that are not border lines (in a way this includes edges with more than two faces) and never soften anyway. In your case if you don't want to clean up geometry, you could select all lines (with wire frame view) and then deselect the fringe lines of the table cloth, then hide remaining "border" edges. So avoid making overlays for just this result. But without the cleanup you'll never get good texture mapping anyway.

I think you must not have installed it correctly. Or is it that it doesn't show in the menu where you expect it? It is found in the Draw menu. The attached GIF was done in SU2017. [image: ETdY_helix.gif] Which Plugins folder did you put it in? When you converted it to RBZ (which isn't actually required) how did you do that?

sometimes it may take longer than you think for the process. unfortunately, you did not attach your image and so this is just a guess.

That's exactly what I was looking for. I thought it was a SketchUp setting. I'm an ex Mac user, and sometimes those common Windows functions don't click. I didn't think to check folder options in the "view" section. Thanks DaveR and TIG!

@barrington said: I have just installed SU7 and sometimes I can't select edges or faces. The push/pull tool works sometimes, then it stops when I cannot select. If I select with a right to left marquee, that always selects whatever it crosses!! In fact, selecting is a problem with SU 7 for me, I have tried the same processes in SU 6 with no problems at all. We have the same issue, you can fix it by following these steps Select all ( Ctrl + A) Go in menu Edit , go to the end of the column, you will see some thing like "1 component", "1 group" or a "number" with groups or component Go inside this selection to chose Expode You may have to repeat this 3 steps until u can select, and then you can regroup these elements Good Luck NGUYEN

Thanx for reply famous TIG. I'm newbie but at least I know you are plugin God. I just tested upright extruder and found it's very useful tool! thanx again! but also do you know any 'square tube' plugin works like 'lines to tube' by D.bur? I just need exact same like 'lines to tube' function but generate 'square tube' instead of circular tube.

Maybe not very precise Copy Past! on "hot point" ! As you can see with my above example no problem! @unknownuser said: curvated surface is from curve push/pull plugin. not sure what's wrong with it. Better draw an arc circle then extrude it with the famous Projections by Didier Bur (last icone) Indispensable for extrude line(s), curve(s)! thanx for crystal clear youtube comparison demo! really helpful. you are a life saver to newbies like me out there! Thanx for good tip Pilou!

Hmmm... I don't know why you can't change the color in an image editor. I do so for wood grain materials quite frequently.

Your question has been answered in both of your threads on the same topic in the SketchUp Community Forum. SketchUp is not 3DS Max. If you don't want the soften/hidden lines to show, delete them leaving just the outline.

@tig said: The Cylinder is a good solid. The other complex-form has several tiny issues. Misaligned edges and faces that are a tiny bit out of coplanar etc. However, you can still achieve what you want, before fixing those more awkward problems... Simply edit the cylinder and intersect with model, then edit the complex-form and repeat the intersection - reverse the parts of the cylinder to be correctly oriented... Delete the unwanted parts in the two groups, then recombine those two sets of geometry into one... See the illustration... I used SolidSolver to fix the result [without deleting coplanar edges]... See the attached SKP... thanx for your time, TIG! problem solved. I think.......... shape bender sometimes make some unexpected transform slightly, doesn't it??

If you have Pro [as your profile says] then you can import a DXF directly into a SKP. Why do you need to do it otherwise ?

@riverivan said: I have the same problem to rotate the match photo, please provide the name of the plugin. Many Thanks You don't need to rotate the photo. You may need to re-orient the axes. You can just re-orient them directly without a plugin or if you want to redefine solar north, get the Solar North plugin from the Extension Warehouse.

Guy's glad you chimed in on this, I ran out of steam.... Charlie_V, Tig , Think you guys hit it spot on as a problem with the image itself. That didn't dawn on me , ,I've gotten in the habit of pre checking images in Gimp early on due to weirdness like this. Didn't think to mention check the image ...... Pbacot, Yeah... thought I could help the O.P. by "reverse engineering" the problem also known as"shooting in the dark". Got a taste of what you SU guru's go through... not so easy. Brings up a question for you guy's, hope you see this. I discovered early on mac + pdf image = weird behavior , so learned not to use them pesky .pdf's. What's up with that out of general curiosity ?
