TIG and mitcorb thanks for your reply. Well I didn't find this to be a major problem. However, I am trying to track down why my Ver 2013 seems to crash more that others, so I have been on a hunt to find the reason. Note that was happening on my old XP laptop. Ver 2013 on my laptop, with XP was almost unusable. However, last week the company gave me a new computer with Win 7 pro. So I just loaded Ver 2013 and re-installed all plugins which I wish to use. So far so good. Thanks TIG for the info about the plugin "simple_loft_loader". And the above line leads me to another question, just how many plugins are duplicated, such that there are excellent, good and mediocre plugins that have the same objectives? Ok, going to stop worrying about the extra save. Got work. Again thanks for the input. Ken

TIG OK, I have it working. First I re-installed the plugins from the store. Still wasn't showing up correctly. Restarted Sketchup, a couple of time, still did not work. Than I tried what I did sometime ago with another plugin. I disable the plugin, clineaxes, closed Sketchup, saw that the plugin was in the disabled list and not in the plugin drop down menu. I than re-enable the ClineAxes, closed Sketchup and then restarted Sketchup, and presto, I have the full toolbar. Thanks TIG Ken

Well that me leads to another conclusion. VisTools locks the hidden geometry. So going to give it a try. Very frustrating to use the laptop. Program has a long way to go before if can complete with other programs on stability. Thanks for your insights. Ken

A simpler way would be to revert the Tools changes [you cannot be sure that the versions between 8 & 2013 are identical], then install the latest 'su_dynamiccomponents' set from the Extensions-Warehouse ? There are several plugins that used to ship with v8 Tools that you need to get from the EW and now appear in Plugins...

I was going to say that most of your issues sound mouse related... I wonder if your clicker isn't going out and not holding functions. Might take it apart and clean it. I mean inside where the buttons connect to the little mini buttons.

Scan2Cad, http://www.scan2cad.com/ has been around for a long time, but its current release Release 8.3 is not cheap. It might suit some peoples needs though, & there is a free trial. It recognises and can edit text in images and supports batch processing. Its probably one of the best available bits of software for complex raster conversions out there. It's a few years (10 maybe) since I used it but I remember it as a highly competent program. As far as I remember AutoCAD Map had raster to vector functions built in, so our office switched to that on cost grounds.

Well I make the assumption that I should download the pro trail version. Seems to me, for +$500.00, I could go to a download site that is for pros and not have me wondering if this trail version is going to crash in 8 days. I wouldn't mind an active connection between Excel and LayOut, either. Because I dislike the appearance of tables straight out of Excel, though, I copy tables from Excel to Word, massage them a bit there for formatting--setting tabs, things like that and save as RTF. I then insert the RTF file into LO. I can edit the RTF file and update from the Excel file if required. It's not quite as smooth as a direction connection but it is workable.

I don't think I've ever had a need to import a DXF file into LO so I can't help you with that one. I'm off to get some coffee as ordered.
