Going back to Sketchup V8
-
Well, I have tried 2013 and I am in the process of modeling something and just got tired of the 2013 problems so I went back to V8.
-
I am having problem with the native toolbars. I have to click multiple times on an icon to get the plugin to function. The problems I have yesterday was with the circle icon and the trim icon. This is not the first time, however, I was in a hurry and just found this to be frustrating. Note, this happens with all the native tool icon, I was just using the circle and push-pull yesterday when I got discouraged.
-
The line tool. I start a line, and for some reason it will end before I get to where I wish it to end. Note, the line doesn't end at a snap point, it just ends out in no where land. So I have to go back erase the short line and start over.
-
The push pull tool. I click on a face, start to pull out, and it stops short of my destination. Requiring me to go back and start all over again.
-
Jims, draw construction line, the cursor pencil icon was a reasonable size, and the snap was close to the end of the pencil, now the pencil is much smaller, and the snapping is not a the end of the pencil, it is out and away from the end, making it hard to draw construction lines it you are not aware of where the snapping will take place.
5. Also the space bar doesn't get me out of tool as quick or reliably as when I am in Sketchup 8 - Added this later
So yesterday, I was just frustrated with the redoing and redoing. Is there anyone else having these problems.
Note, I have both V8 and 2013 on the computer, both are set up the same as to the graphic card.
Other than making new icons and making the toolbar behave, has there been a change in the internal operations of the program? 2013 just doesn't seem to work as V8 does on some functions.
Note, I haven't given up on 2013, just wanted to get some problems I am having out there to see if other are having the same problem. Can't fix program if no one is aware of the problem.
Thanks

Any chance you're using a mouse that runs on batteries that need replacing. I've had odd stuff going on with clicks and movement when batteries is low.
But I've not experienced SU2013 to be any different than SU8.

Well that's a good question. I just replaced my mouse less than 2 weeks ago, because is wasn't working correctly on many programs and levels. So I don't have a feeling about how long the batteries will last on the new mouse. So will be changing batteries after this message.
Sometime the forest is in the way for clear vison.
Thanks

Maybe this is relevant to your issue, or maybe not -
I find the timing of the mouse click varies from program to program. I haven't worked too much in 2013 but I notice that the click timing (is there such a term?) is slower than in 8. The same occurs for me in MODO. The click in MODO needs to be a bit longer than it does in AutoCAD or SketchUp 8. What I mean is I have to hold the mouse button down a fraction of a second longer in MODO than I do in AC or SU. If I don't, I find myself in the field thinking I'm about to start doing something with the tool I've just chosen but nothing is happening or I'm still in the previous tool. Frustrating but I get used to it.

Well you may have hit the nail. When I have to go back, I decidedly hold the click longer. I know if I just go over and click like I did the first time I get no response, and I do have to go back and hold the click longer. However, I didn't equate that to timing, just thought I was being more careful just where I was clicking on the icon.
Thanks, going to slow down and see if that cures the problem.

Also you'll notice in preferences>drawing>click style that there are different click configurations.
might try changing that...

I was going to say that most of your issues sound mouse related... I wonder if your clicker isn't going out and not holding functions. Might take it apart and clean it. I mean inside where the buttons connect to the little mini buttons.
