    • Trying to install version 2023

I downloaded and tried to install version 2023. Received the following error as shown in the file. Tried again, same error. Removed all the download files and started over again for the third time. Still have the same error code.

So a little help would be nice.

      Thanks in advance.

Well, darn this is a copy-and-paste menu. I Saw that menu but just didn't see that it was copy-and-past. On iPad, the icons look different.

Guess it's going to take some time to get use to this program.

      Thanks for the feedback

what irritates me is the iPad has some plugins that the window version doesn't have. What I don't know is do I actually have Sketchup Go or Sketchup Free. There is no place in the program to determine what version you have.

As an example, the iPad has copy and paste in a place where the window version does not have these plugin.

OK, will let you alone, sad, I can't contact anyone at Sketchup.

    • RE: About Sketchup Free and Sketchup G

      Thanks, Rich for the reply.

If you have or are using Sketchup Free, there is a place asking you if you want to upgrade. Sketchup Free was so bad, I thought maybe the upgrade would be better. Extending your time is not an upgrade by any means.

If that all the upgrade is, I want my money back. I would be ashame of putting the Sketchup name to this very limited program.

Will, I am going to keep trying to get ahold of the Sketchup personnel.

To tell you one of the problems, if you have a box, and you want to draw a line so you can extend on part of a side. It is very hard to get the new line to connect to the box lines. Frustrating for damn sure.

      Again thanks for your help.

Last question, has anyone used the pro version? Can you use your plugins?

    • About Sketchup Free and Sketchup G

Yes, I know this forum is for the paid Sketchup. However, after using Sketchup for years and making money, I decided to retire now that I am 78. However, I did have an idea for a tablet mount for my car and so I downloaded Sketchup for Free. What a waste of time. So I paid the $119 to get the upgrade. So I have two questions. I know, you think I would try their site? However, every time I have tried it, the program comes back with, "Sorry there seems to be no one here at the present.

      Questions:

1.I paid the $119 for the upgrade. But nothing changed.

Was the $119 just so I could us the program longer. Because I find the program an embarrassment to Sketchup team. A small drawing that normally would take me 5 minutes to finish and have a STL file read to print, has now been 3 days.

      1. I also found that the Sketchup was installed on my new iPad - (note I didn't install this program, just found it on my iPad). Still doesn't work worth a damn. But the layout is different and there seems to be other options. So, my question is do I need to pay $119 for the iPad and another $119 for the desktop.

Very disappointed in both programs, but can't get any one at the Sketchup site to answer my question.

I mean this is not a hard 3d object to make.

Do wish you guys to know that this forum has been very helpful over the years. Thansk

    • 18650 cell for e bike battery's pack

I am in the process of buying an e bike. I am hoping to learn how to make a spare battery pack for the e bike.

So, here is a one cell, 18650 battery that is the go-to cell to use to make multi-cell battery packs. such as, 36v 20ah, 48v 20ah or other typical battery packs being used.

I made a one cell battery, with alignment circles on the top and bottom to help in aligning the batteries in the available space. The alignment circles are there because very few packs are square or rectangular in shape.

I am hoping to use the 3d battery to allow me to layout the cells and the connections such that I can check my work before I actually start making the battery pack.

Also, I would like to know if anyone is also making or would like to make their own battery pack.

    • RE: Migrating to a New Version of SketchUp

Well, I am installing the new ver. 2022. However, I get the notice, "You have exceeded your allowed activations". I have signed out of ver. 2019, 2020, 2021. Signed in to ver. 2022. However, still get the notice.

I do have the viewer installed on my laptop. But I don't see a place to sign out.

So, what's the problem. I am paid up until 3 Nov, 2022.

      Tig

I used the extension manager and I had it to load unsigned plugins.

Still, it would end up in the disabled section and I couldn't move it from there. Tried many times and many ways.

However, I got it running now.

      Thanks, TIG

I have been chasing why I couldn't install this plugin. It kept appearing in the SketchUcation Extension Manager as Disabled Extensions and I couldn't change the setting.

And maybe I missed the text, but it would help, if there was some indication where plugin/extensions are located.

      Again, thank you

    • RE: Curic Studio

OK, the problem solved. The author of the program emailed me with the solutions. Nowhere in his instruction was I told to enter the license to go to the extension menu, go down the list to Curic and select the Studio selection and then enter your license key.

Program works great. Below are two images, one on your left is from his plugin and the one on your right is exporting to 2d dwg. You can see all the small artifacts in the exported image. Also, Make2d allows me to see the results before I export the 2d image. So, I can make correction before I insert the dwg into a cad program.

You can see all the bleed though of members behind the front members. All those little lines need to be removed. The little lines are not in the Make2d drawing. I am good to go.

Thanks to all those that tried to help.

    • RE: Curic Studio

I have the plugins installed, but during running, all they do is check for the license key. And I have a license key, but there is nowhere to install the license.

Usually on plugins, the first run asks you to input the license key. Didn't happen here.

    • Curic Studio

I just paid $99 for Curic Studio, only wanted the plugin "Make2d". Why, because it has a plugin called Make2d, which the output looks much better than exporting to 2d cad drawing. When using the export to 2d, there are a lot of artifacts that need to be removed before the DWG is acceptable. Note these artifacts are hidden in the view of the model in Sketchup, and are usually bleed though. However, after reviewing the video on YouTube, it looks likes Curic Make2d gives much better results.

However, after buying the program, I was also issued a license Key. BUT NO DAMN INFO ON HOW TO INSTALL, OR PLACE THE DAMN LICENSE KEY FILE. Pissed, yep. Went to his website, no info. Google search, no info.

Does anyone have any idea where or how to use the Curic License key?

    • RE: Plugins disappearing

Just updated. Now the greying out in the Deep Select has been fixed. However, now Deep Select doesn't work correctly.

Before when I used Deep Select on a pipe, and selected edges only, I would get the two ends. Now, I get all the edges, even the hidden ones.

As shown in the below file. I got to move on and finish.

Thanks Dave, for the update. I used the selection plugin all the time. With the down turn in oil production, I have actually retired. So, work with Sketchup is getting slim.

      @juju said:

Each major release runs independently alongside other major releases. When installing a new major release, you have to install the extensions for that release from fresh again.

Most of the time the extensions work as expected, however there are times when they don't (when the Ruby API was updated) as such it is good practice to install extensions from fresh (no copying, etc.) and use the latest available versions.

Keep in mind when the Ruby API is updated and something appears to be broken in extensions, it could take time for that developer to play catch-up and update it to be compatible again, however sometimes this never happens.

That not my problem. I installed the plugins after installing version 2021. And the plugin was there and I was using the plugins. There was an update, and I haven't used Sketchup that much. However, now that I am using Sketchup again, the selection plugin by Thomthom is missing. Going, not there, missing, not just not working. I didn't uninstall the plugin. And the plugin DeepSelect, when I am try to use this plugin, the selections are greyed out.
