Hi All, Sketchyphysics and centerpoint work well for convex or cubic volumes, respectively. For example, centerpoint will use the center of the bounding box. Both approaches will not give you the true centroid in your case, which you need to figure out the center of gravity (assuming you have a homogenous material). You can only do that with my plugin but only for 2d shapes. If you need a better evaluation of the volume centroid, then look at a software like Rhino. Cheers, Alex

Some email providers unfortunately block automated emails in general. Sometime I receive emails from people who registered but never received the confirmation mail. Note however that you can also subscribe to your (or any) topics vie the RSS feed.

Fantastic and fun technic . Thanks Pilou to point this!! The technic developped by KitoRaupp in his videos is not so easy to understand. For me, a plain hour to understand and reach the good result! So I've made a video to explain it better (I'm the author of nothing here): video from VIDDLER [image: th_KitoRauppPottery.jpg] video from YOUTUBE SketchUp: KitoRaupp_Pottery and have posted it as an additionnal technic to potter a bowl with SketchUp in my PoorFlatEllipsoidIndian Bowl simon

Yeah, as soon as I finished posting those pictures I remembered why it was doing that and I also went and got Subdivide and Smooth and figured the whole thing out...for now. The next big hurdle will be the body of the truck. Tons of detail and many different angles. Thanks for the help everyone. It is appreciated. Talk to you all soon.

in sketchup it is a good idea to use components for any repeating objects, as although there is a slight overhead in terms of file size it quickly pays off in a model of any size. Im not sure how components work in google earth, though.

Well, I took Google Translate as an example. If YouTube uses its engine (or anything else with that efficiency), I can imagine the results. Just try to translate something to Hungarian and then back to English with it! Nevertheless, as I stated above,I do think these subtitles are useful.

GOOD NEWS! I checked the next evolution of the Xubuntu distro and found it incorporated the newest Intel drivers for my integrated 945 video chipset. So, I did an online update of my installed Xubuntu 8.10 to Jaunty Jackelope 9.04 Alpha 6 and ... The weird change of color issues are gone! The SU7 rendering screen shows normal colors, shadows and for all appearances is working normally! I still have to disable DRI in the xorg.conf file but again, I don't use any apps that need DRI anyway... The rest of the applications I have installed also seem to work as well... So, while I'm still going through the process of loading plugins (all of them that I've installed so far are working properly), I think the SU, Kerkythea and Xubuntu combo will be a success. Cheers!

You should try to update your graphic card drivers if you can.

I've actually exploded circles many times just because I wanted non-smoothed edges. This will be handy. Suppose it's one for the "doh" thread.

hi is there a way to understand how and whether GE casts and receives shadows? In my model, I see GE terrain is shaded, but shadows from buildings are flat and do not conform to the terrain. Moreover, terrain below the 0,0,0 point does not receive shadows - flat or otherwise. Moving the entire model above the 0,0,0 point (unlocking the terrain) results in nothing receiving or casting shadows.. not even building parts on each other. I tried exploding the terrain, intersecting it with the model, .. to no avail. Any thoughts? thanks
