@rootbender said: @stilteg said: Problem will be that those large models will probably exceed the upload limit of the warehouse ! And what is their upload limit? The stated load limit is 10MB. When you upload the file it is compressed and you can also down load compressed files. I have not investigated but think that limit is compressed or un-compressed based on this http://base.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=59462. This link and others you can find by searching for large file size ftp sites. For course with large files you will run into the problems of errors even for high quality, low error rate , sites. That is why for some file down loads large pauses are at the end of the file while checks are made or some times the error check code ( The normal CRC , cyclic redundancy code , check code used is not adequate to find errors) is supplied to you and you have to do the check your self aka hash or md5 checks etc. So when you say for test purpose I am at a lost what you are really trying to do. It is very will established large file size can be transmitted. Look at some of the file sizes of programs you down load. If you want to just down load a large file then just do the search recommended in these postings. If there is some other reason lets us know we maybe able someonecan help I've seen some very large Sketchup models just under 10 MB (almost a million triangles). But would like to find larger ones.

This actually solves the problem! Thanks! @mvollrath said: I realize this is an old post but I figured out a work around to this issue and wanted to share if people are still encountering this problem. In Max select all the objects you want to export, go to Utilities > Reset Xform > Reset Transform > Reset Selected Then Export Selected and when you import your .3ds file into SketchUp everything should now be in the right place. I hope this helps! Cheers!

If they are components, you can do that in the Components window ->Rt click ->Select Instances If they are Groups (or components), Thomthom's Selection Toys will work: Rt click the group -> Group Copies -> Select all

@jean lemire said: Hi folks. Try Window Menu --> Model info --> Components. Uncheck the box labeled "Show component axes". Just ideas. That's only to display component axes when you are outside the editing context. This new thing in v.8 is actually when the model axes are (temporarily) adjusted to the component axes when in editing mode. Confused me a bit when it was new to me, too, but to be honest, it was very easy to get used to (and I like it this way)

@dave r said: Late last night I got the DXF files back from the PDFs I submitted to CometDocs. Unfortunately the single lines were all doubled so they weren't usable floor plans. Ah well. It probably works for some. That's the problem with many pdf site plans etc; that lines with a thickness (which is often all of them) gets converted to double lines. When I get pdf files I usually load into PS, with a resolution like 100 dots per cm. Then it's easy to get it into SU with the exact size/scale maintained. That's OK for us metric guys anyway, which according to a report I just read, is every country in the world except Liberia, Burma and USA

@mistro11 said: The follow me tool would not explode my curves when I use it fresh; it's when I try to continue using it after the initial operation. I experienced this when I was installing crown moldings which would not follow all the way around the room in one shot.(complex ceiling) I tried using the existing profile at the end of the extrude and that's where the curves exploded on the new segments. I was just wondering why that happens and was concerned about poly count. Yes, that's it. The curve of the profile gets exploded during the Follow me operation and when you want to use it for another extrusion, it already leaves those edges unsoftened. Just like with an easy example: draw a circle > right click > Explode - and now use the PushPull tool to extrude it to a cylinder. See the same thing. If you select all these edges (just triple click on the geometry - or single click on a component/group) then right click y soften edges, a dialog pops up. There move the slider a little bit to the right to see your edges softened again. You can also see (and edit) these softened edges (and the facets in between) if you turn on hidden geometry under the View menu.

Hi Dedim, I am actually using the onclick/hide solution, and for the coordinates that could be an interesting challenge but as you said, setting all coordinates for every "obstacle" would be time consumer. Tig, I've checked Sketchy-Physics, it could be a solution but I do not figure out how to integrated it. I will try sketchy-Physics first and dig deeper to see where this will lead. I thank you both for your time and your experiences. whish you both a good day. Estyl

The only comment I can add, is to open both SU sessions BEFORE you do the Clipboard Copy. Sometimes, opening another app can corrupt the clipboard area. Rare, but has happened to me more than once.

It would help if you could post at the very least a screen shot. Better, the SKP file. Without seeing it, I'm guessing you are seeing what is referred to as Z-fighting in which two faces occupy the same place in space and the graphics card is trying to resolve which one to show. In a case like that, you probably don't have any problem with co-planarity of lines.

It's also very easy to use Ruby script to get the two pieces to scissor every time you give them the finger. If you are new to Ruby, you can see that the RotZ command rotates around the Z (blue axis) I've made the top tube a dynamic component and placed its axes right on the pivot point, directly above the origin. The function that is displayed, simply rotates the tube anti-clockwise by 60* every every time it's clicked. The subsequent click rotates it back to zero again. scissors.skp

Hi Whitem, The exe extension is the Windows installer. You need to download the Mac installer (with a .dmg extension) from here: http://www.kerkythea.net/joomla/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=42&func=fileinfo&id=66
