Without looking at the model, I would say the edges that appear to be missing are either softened/smoothed or hidden. Go to View>Hidden Geometry and I expect you'll then see what you are looking for. Edited to add: I see you also posted your question as a separate topic and Rich has answered it, too. It's probably a good idea to only post a question once.

@hellnbak said: .......... But, what I'm looking for is an explanation of why it happens, and how to make it not happen anymore. ...... Hi, attached file / model may somehow explain what is going on when creating similar weird faces. There are certain "conditions" that have to be met to create them. Don't ask me why SketchUp can't handle them. It probably has to do with the order of creating loops and the sequence of edges and their endpoints that confuses the program to decide which faces have to be created and where to split them. The model shows two situations that you better avoid when modelling. Although dragging endpoints accross an opposite edge isn't the most likely operation. Often "intersect faces with....." doesn't help. And you can keep on adding edges, only shifting the profiles to some other little face. Delete the corrupt part and/or re-create it with a workaround (like in the second scene) I hope this somehow helps in understanding when and why this issue occures. weird faces

@robert111 said: Curviloft Look in that first post for instructions... this is the best way to go about it... (and if i may add the easiest) all you need to do is make the lines (or curves) along which you want the surface and then simply use this wonderful plugin to create the surface for you.

@jason_maranto said: As I said Maxwell will not respect Sketchup section cuts at all -- the sample scene from Gaieus contains a section cut (which again Maxwell does not see or render). If you wish to do a section cut effect and not use Z-Clip Planes then you will have to manually separate the geometry and set the group you want to be "cut away" to "hide from camera"... like this: <!-- ia0 -->SectionCut_j.skp<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:19y7atlf] All you need to do is select the section plane and context click to choose "create group from slice", then explode any geometry necessary to let the new "section plane" group divide the relevant geometry... then group the parts you wish to hide and context click to select Maxwell>Hide from>Camera. Here's the resulting render: <!-- ia1 -->SectionCut_j.jpg<!-- ia1 -->[/attachment:19y7atlf] Best, Jason. WOW thank you very much! I am able to reproduce the results from your explanation I have tried the "hide from camera" option before but I think it failed because I didn't group it first. Thanks again

Hey guys, I have created a simple pipe with your help but still need to improve it to make it more like what I want. Any help on Gem file please? I want to make sure that the model I created in SU will be exportable to my software as a Gem file. Would you advice me on that? Thanks A

Curves don't exist inside Sketchup, that is only small straight lines or small flat surfaces! So the Tools on Surface of Fredo6 is perfect for that Your "false" real curve will be match your false "real" curvated surface That is not a nurbs modeler! If you want real curves and real curvated surfaces you must have for example a Nurbs modeler in the spirite of ergonomy of Sketchup Try Moment of Inspiration : Moi It's a true gem! You have an infine demo for training

Hi dedmin. I downloaded and installed Blender. Yes, there is a File > Import > X3D Extensible 3D (.x3d/.wrl) command, but wasn't lucky with my test material. As far as I can see, the command did nothing. There seems to be some kind of conversion script behind the command, but maybe my files are too old?

It's not really the role but my questions - and comments like Mac's... Believe me, Lewis, no-one has really wanted to put your problems and thread off-topic - but you need to be clear when asking and if you cannot be clear (as you may be a beginner not knowing what may be important), at least answer when people want to clarify the situation. (Honestly, we still do not know for sure whether your problem comes from inaccurate use of the SketchyPhysics plugin - no matter how many times I asked you to let us know)
