The mapping should be done in Sketchup. "Relative" is the right option. What's wrong with the first image? The texture is stretched a bit in one direction, because you made it square. But besides that it looks ok to me.

I don't think this can be done 'on the fly' as you have found. However, the following should work (on PC). From the pattern palette, paint a surface with the required pattern. Select the surface and from the right click menu select 'Texture/Edit Texture Image'. I have Gimp as my preferred image editor, other editors will probably be a different sequence. When Gimp has loaded the selected texture go to the 'Image' dropdown menu and make sure 'Mode' is set to RGB. Select the pixels to change and then select the 'Bucket Fill' tool. Set the fill colour to your desired colour and fill the selected pixels. Export the image, with a new name, to a suitable folder for further use. Back in SU, create a new material from the saved, altered image. It will now appear in the 'In Model' materials palette. If you wish to use it in other models complete a 'Save As' and save as an SKM file, again to a suitable folder. You could add it to the shipped SU patterns but it would be lost if you had to do a re-install I believe.

@gd3design said: Here is my workflow:... thank you very much for your answer - first I have to understand step by step what you recommend and consider how and with which means I can implement your suggestions - so for example I still can't understand that Vray (which is not in our use) might be able to be helpful here... Hopefully i was clear above - my question is how to extract pure model data from any IFC file. In a current case I was able to import a 90 mb ifc file which grows in SkUp to 500 mb skp file which for me is no longer editable unfortunately I often don't have any influence on files which will be made available... Regards

Thanks Dtr but I need a T&G tex without the slight gaps between the boards, no problem though I was able to find one that looks OK on that SUp textures site.

Can you share the SKP file so we can see what you've got? That would eliminate the guesswork. Maybe all you need to do is turn off Section Fill. Toggle it off in the Section toolbar... [image: KjvK_Screenshot-9_6_20191_18_01PM.png] ...or turn it off in the Styles Edit section... [image: WhTv_Screenshot-9_6_20191_18_23PM.png] ...or turn it off in the View menu. Remember to update the style after editing it.

I'm not sure what you want to achieve, but one possible solution is to save a GE image at the highest resolution (File -> Save then use the Map Options to turn off all except Scale; Resolution Maximum) and import that into SU as an image. You can then use the Scale on the image to scale image properly. You can then place your model in SU, covering the GE image of your buildings. If you want this to include terrain/ elevation, it's doable but more complex. See my earlier post for some of the details.

This happened to me too since 2019. I think it is a sneaky bug that just got in and no one hardly noticed, but yes, Isometric views export to DWG or other line software aren't up to scale. I use it often to to Iso views in my 2D cad drawings, and they aren't to scale since the 2019 version, they used to be before. At first I thought it was some plugin issue (because I use a lot of them and I sometime encounter compatibility problems, but I did a few clean re-install since and it was there nonetheless. I just kinda live with it now

Can you show us exactly what you've got so far and what you are trying to achieve. The exact process will depend on what you want. If you are trying to use Follow Me to sweep a profile around a cylinder, that's one thing. If you want to draw a path that doesn't just go around the cylinder (maybe changes direction on the cylinder, for example) that would be a different process. One thing you might look at is Fredo6's Tools on Surface. in the Sketchucation Extension Store.

The following works great - thanks - I'll my update the profile @dave r said: double click with Select on the face you want to keep, keyboard shortcut for Copy, triple click on it to select all attached, hit Delete, Edit>Paste in place. Assign a keyboard shortcut for Paste in place to make it faster. Alternatively, use a right to left selection box around the geometry you wish to remove making sure you don't select the face or its bounding edges. Hit Delete.

Hi Pixero, That tool appears to, as it says, draw a line from the camera to the "target", the center of the camera field. My tool, when active, draws a line from the camera through the selected point in the frame. So from a single camera position, you can draw the rays that outline an object. Would it be straightforward to modify your tool to do that? Thanks, August

I guess a good question is: is there a good dynamic component that kind of does this already that I can alter the components to hack and make it do what I'm asking? Again not sure about Ruby so I may be limited to the 3d warehouse. .

I checked the .dwg file and when regenerated, the linework intersects in those locations, however, there are gaps when the circles/arcs are simplified graphically, even when using autocad. So, there is an issue importing these elements I did try Didier's projections and Thom Thom's edge tools and still having a heck of a time getting faces formed. Even drawing new lines/edges is not helping. Are there any tricks in prepping the .dwg prior to import that will help?

You're welcome. Perhaps you could update your profile so it shows the current version, etc.

@tig said: As I explained... The MAC OS Mojave is only compatible with SketchUp v2018 or newer. So your SketchUp v2015 is too old to run successfully on your current MAC OS ! You might be able to install v2015 and then install extensions from RBZ files, but chances are it won't work properly... as you have found out. well, thank you very much for your time! now, i know what to do!

The .SKP file you linked to [121.skp] is corrupted [invalid] and sadly it can't be opened - let alone 'fixed'. Although it does have a v18 'header', something inside its code is broken. Do you have the backup version .SKB file ? If so rename it as a .SKP and try that...

yeah the measuring tool worked just fine, I had to lengthen the posts and raise the roof up, re do the knee braces, but now I have something to show the customer, and something to work up a price with [image: e6l7_1Reduced1.jpg]
