I just now looked at it on my Mac with SU2015. The last set font choice is retained for each activation of the 3D Text tool and it is even retained when SU is closed/quit and restarted. It appears that an answer was found sometime between 2011 and the release of SU2015. I don't know in which version it changed. What version of SketchUp are you using? It would be helpful if you completed your profile.

Thanks Marian. I usually try to avoid 3dwarehouse, mainly because I get tired of all the editing I have to do. In this case though, I think these will do the trick. Cathryn

Thomthom, I believe that it is only hidden geometry. I tried renaming the Plugins folder so it wouldn't load at startup. That seems to eliminate the problem. Any suggestions on how to proceed if it's a Ruby conflict? @unknownuser said: by ashscott on Tue Jun 21, 2011 5:26 pm Quick comment: I've had a similar problem that I couldn't reproduce on other machines - turned out that my graphics card was packing a sad. Something us simple as updating your drivers might help ashscott, What do you mean by "packing a sad"? I've not tried updating drivers yet. The card has been performing great so far. Thanks for the input.

Here is what I think you mean: Can you use sketchup layers with 2D entities like you do in photoshop? Not exactly, but you can approximate this, and it doesn't necessarily require Layers Manager, unless you want to independently control the visibility Example import 2 2D images into your Sketchup drawing assign each to a different layer, like Layer0 and Layer1. assuming you're viewing from the top, select the 2D entity you want on top, then Select move that entity up the blue axis so it is physically on top of the "lower" 2D entity. Now you can control visibility of each image entity with layer manager. CCK

If you do a lot of this stuff, it may be worth investing in the Instant Road plugin? http://www.valiarchitects.com/sketchup_scripts/instant-road

You were faster typing, because I'm sure your post wasn't there when I wrote mine.

Dryad is cr@p too. Of course, the best thing to do is not scour the Net looking for such software...but scour the Net looking for sites that have already done it for you. Link

Personally, I use Zorro2 and I would suggest it to you as well judging from the tasks that you are in. From my experience, it is by far, one of the best tools out there that helped me slice models. It is very easy and user oriented as when compared with other tools.

@krisidious said: be interested to know what caused that. could you upload that group? do you still have it? it may be in an autosave file. Sure, since it was a simple object to redraw and replace, I decided to export the drawing I needed and closed without saving. So I could investigate it further. I've saved a new file with just this component, tried exporting various views and ran into the same issues, everything went smoothly, exporting in just a second, except the same view. I've attached it, you can see the two scenes...on the fixed scene, after you just delete the group of hex bolt heads and export, it goes fine. SensusRegulator.skp

If you run it with the Ruby Console open there might be error messages ??? Here are the main causes of issues with this tool. The 'red' line and the arc/curve cannot touch any other geometry, or each other. You must have the Smustard.com "progressbar.rb" installed. The object to be bent cannot be very tiny [OR gigantically large] - Sketchup/OpenGL have issues creating very small facets [<~1mm or 0.001sq"]. BUT you can scale the object x10 or x100, bend it, then scale back to suit - you will find that very small [or large] geometry can exist BUT it cannot be created. So if the object you are hoping to bend is the size of your fingernail [or a town] then you must look to scaling to save your ass... Post in the main thread to get better help

Thanks again to everyone. In this instance, it was some kind of non-selectable artifact (a cross mark) and a stray guideline that was causing the problem. My solution was to select just the model itself and then Paste in Place to a new file, then do a Save As the old file and overwrite it. Worked just fine.

Celina I suspect you are not installing the files as directed. You say you put all of the code into Plugins - that's NOT what you do. You extract the files from the zip and files that come zipped in subfolders stay in those subfolders in side Plugins only the files located directly within the zip go into Plugins. You have reported similar problems on another thread and I have given more detail in my rely there... http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=335834#p335834

No more white line bug with the new Mac OsX Lion on HD3000. I have also tested the new Mac Book Air with Lion. SketchUp work perfectly.
