Usually this indicates the graphics card isn't working correctly. You can try going to Window>Preferences>OpenGL and change the setting for Use Fast Feedback. That often helps. Also, go directly to the graphics card maker's site and get their latest drivers. In case you missed this step when installing SketchUp, find the downloaded installer, right click on it and select Run as administrator. Then when the option is presented, choose Repair.

And for us Mac users, there is no equivalent erase tool in any standard toolbar (aka "palette"). But, like DaveR, I just press the delete key. I have a lot of shortcut keys set up, and have become so accustomed to using them that moving the mouse away from the model and then clicking on a tool icon seems like more effort to me! That said, having an explicit button to click can be very valuable in tutorials and animations shared in sites like this, as it seems like magic occurred if you press an off-screen key.

Edit material only shows the material name in the box below. If I edit texture (open GIMP) Gimp has a name which relates to the image file. Yet sometimes the GIMP name doesn't correspond to anything I can find. So far the only way that MIGHT tell me the actual texture hame is to open in GIMP. That would be slow in trying to manage textures in reducing them for example. With the Twilight export I can easily see what textures are larger--but finding what they are in the Sketchup file is another matter, especially when the image in SU is so small it just looks like a solid color.

I have one of the scanect mark 2 scanners, I took them about 6 months to get the apps sorted out, so many little problems, bad battery life , unable to calibrate About a month ago we got it all dialed in,but still we’re having problems I’m on complete lock down for 2 weeks so I’ll play with it more Anyone else out there into scanning yet?

Adding to and echoing pbacot's excellent advices, I hope this might also be of use. I would stick with the native SU tools and get a thorough grip on what can be done with them. Have a look at some of the YouTube videos; Justin Geis's TheSketchupEssentials has a lot of good information. There are, of course, many different approaches to terrain modelling but with the Sandbox tools in mind, using a combination of these could help rather than using just the one tool. Definitely keep your building footprint and hard landscape as separate groups or components. I have done some work on your original SKP and hope that it will be more illuminating than what would be a rambling commentary on what I did! Essentially, I drew the required outlines on a flat surface above the model and used the Drape tool to indicate where to cut into the terrain and re-build with the drop curb and sloped driveway. If you would like to PM me I will try and answer any queries. Terrain Testing SB 2015v.skp [image: wIQB_03.jpg] [image: Mag8_04.jpg]

That View> large icons fix didn't stick, so I asked on the MS support forum The tutorial below can help show you how to set a default folder template for all folders, change the layout to large icons for how you want, and then apply to all folders. https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/35192-set-default-folder-view-all-folders-windows-10-a.html

I realized that the objects in this file have been located using Easting & Northing coordinates which explains why they are approx over 7 million metres from their axis location. Which could explain why I was having issues with working in the file before relocating them.

Do you mean Eneroth Axonometric Projection? It's available in the Extension Warehouse. In SketchUp go to Window>Extension Warehouse and search for it. It'll come up and you can install it automatically. The name change from Layers was due to a long standing request made by many users to get rid of the term in SketchUp. New users invariably wouldn't learn how to use them correctly in SketchUp because they were treating them like Layers in 2D programs. That creates problems for them. Hopefully changing what they are called will help to reduce those problems. With previous versions the rule has always been to leave Layer 0 as active, leave Layer 0 associated with edges and faces and only assign other layers to groups and components. The basics remain intact. The pencil icon should be set to Untagged, all edges and faces are untagged when they are created and remain untagged. Only groups and components get other tags.

Google and 3dWH are your friends... Look for 'Privet Shrub' [Liguster is just the German name !] https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/ua1e68d95-7773-4936-8f80-d12834dd060d/Privet https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/u74c2fbec-f0b6-4235-bc37-72e54df2f074/cheyenne-privet or 'Box Shrub' [or 'Hedge'] https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search/?q=box%20shrub https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search/?q=box%20hedge There are lots of these, and I suspect no one could spot if it's one or the other shrubs !

@melissatr said: the program gets super slow and it makes it too hard to work on my file. Do you have any suggestions on how to reduce the file and fasten sketchup? Well, you might be able to do some cleanup to the CAD file before importing it. What graphics card? Maybe you need to update the drivers or get a better GPU. That's often where the bottleneck is. Looks like you changed the year but it still shows Free/Make which creates confusion.

It's not a good idea to copy extensions/plugins between computers or between different versions on the same computer. Install fresh copies of the extensions to make sure that you get current versions and get them installed correctly. For extensions from Sketchucation that you installed using the Sketchucation tool, you can install your bundle from one computer to the other. Otherwise you need to just search for an install extensions one at a time. You could copy any custom components, materials, and styles though.

In most cases I would say you are right Juju---except for these, I think. Chuck V.'s plugins are some of the best in the industry, and in particular, the door & window tool. Its parametric settings are better than anything I can produce in either Archicad or Vectorworks, and it has alone saved me countless hours to create very complex windows, doors, and door systems. Of course, if I could wave a magic wand, they would be perpetual. Oh, well...... Cheers. [image: iR0G_ScreenShot2020-03-13at2.28.22PM.png]

Thanks a lot, Box! Yes you can! But... I created 4 simple objects, added different colours and created a comoponent. I deleted one or several objects, and I was able to purge two materials. But always the one I added last its material will not be purged. This has to be removed manually. The problem is we have a hell of lot of components in our projects which are mostly downloaded from the warehouse (we are restaurantdesigners). This means a lot of mess, most of the materials are not labeled or purged before. It would help to know which objects are (were) assigned to the material. A plugin would help! Regards Picky

Ensure that the main SketchUp.exe properties are NOT set up to 'always run as administrator'. This can cause issues since SketchUp is then running at an elevated security setting and lower operations via Windows Explorer can't affect SketchUp. Also ensure your SketchUp installation is correct... Whilst logged into Windows as your usual user-account, ensure SketchUp [and Layout] is closed. Find the SketchUp installer exe file - typically in your Downloads folder. Select that exe file's icon, right-click > context-menu > "Run as administrator" When prompted choose 'Repair' [or 'Install' if it's a brand new installation]. After it completes restart SketchUp and see if that helped... Installing any complex app from its exe file in any other way can lead to unpredictable issues. So never double-click the installer's exe file to 'Run' it. Even if your normal user has admin-powers it's NOT the same as doing it as outlined above. Doing a Repair leaves all of your installed Plugins alone. Very rarely it can cause issues with some Extension's [un]saved preference-files/folders that have incorrect permissions set, even after the Repair - if you experience those issues we can advise on a specific fix if needed...

@dave r said: @pipinek said: Alas it does not work AT ALL! I have removed/deinstalled some some paid plugins from one of my machines via Extension Manager and they are STILL are marked as active in Extension Warehouse. There is no option now, as previously in Ext. Warehouse to uninstall them. Only the option INSTALL is available. HOW ON EARTH ONE CAN DEACTIVATE paid plugins? Thank you in advance. Uninstall is found in the Extension Manager. [attachment=0:1c7l5gp0]<!-- ia0 -->Screenshot - 3_16_2020 , 7_36_28 PM.png<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:1c7l5gp0] After uninstalling from the previous version, you should be able to go to the extension in the Extension Warehouse in the new version and click Install. I do thank you very much. The problem is, after uninstalling the plugin via (as shown on the picture) it is not freed-up in Ext. Warehouse. Thus cannot licence it. I have been trying to uninstall some plugins on the older machine and then trasfer them to the new one. The max number of licence has been still marked as 3/3.

Look through my RB scripts and see how this is done in detail... for a simple menu item SUBMENU=UI.menu("Plugins").add_submenu("Haujiet") #Or other menu by name e.g. 'Tools' SUBMENU.add_item("Add..."){Sketchup.active_model.select_tool(Haujiet_Tool.new())} SUBMENU.add_item("Settings..."){Haujiet_Module;;settings()} for a command CMD1=UI;;Command.new("Tool_name"){Haujiet_Module;;some_module_action()} CMD1.tooltip="How_to_use_tool..." As Dave R has suggested, using a texture would be the way to go. If you do prefer a vector method then maybe the following might help. Extract or copy the curved face or, at least, copy the curved edge in order to have the new linework sit over the surface correctly. Define the arc centre of the curve. Model a single brick as a component. I used just the face with four sides converging to a single point at the arc centre. Once the model is populated with the brick component the bed & perpendicular joints can be adjusted by scaling the brick face. If you just have an arc edge then add some extra lines so that a face is formed on the ground plane (make it a group). The brick face should lie slightly in front of the wall face or arc line. [image: PG4l_01.jpg] Next, rotate/copy the brick sufficient to give coverage across the wall width with some overlap. Group this first course and then copy it upwards to form the second course. Rotate to give the staggered joints. [image: pFou_02.jpg] Now group the first and second courses together and copy upwards to give vertical coverage to the wall. Place all of the bricks into one further group. [image: ThQH_03.jpg] Push-pull the wall ground plane up to the top edge height needed to form a vertical face if you did not extract this from the model already. [image: ux2H_04.jpg] Select the brick group and the wall group. Run 'Intersect with selected'. When done, hide the bricks and the wall groups. You should now have just the intersected linework to represent the bricks in the curved wall. Select and group this linework and fit into the main model. [image: bWC0_05.jpg] A bit long winded I know but an enjoyable afternoon diversion. I used only native SU tools.
