New iPad Pro
-
Hi all
Does anyone know if sketchup will work on the latest iPad Pro, as it has mouse capability and a built in scanner
Thanks Dean -
No idea about the 'new' iPad Pro but I have the previous one and while I can run SketchUp Free in a browser with a BT mouse it still is not really function able. There is no 'click-and-drag' function so it's pretty hard to draw with any precision. There may be some setting to "turn on" to allow this but I haven't found it.

iPad pro uses iOS for its operating system. The desktop version of SketchUp supports Mac OS but not iOS. As Glenn indicates, you could run SketchUp for Web.

You can also use something like https://www.realvnc.com
but it's necessary to have your normal computer open in a radius 15 meters..

Do you think SU will make an IOS version, it would be so handy to have it on the move
What are your thoughts about the scanner? -
They don't reveal what they are going to do in the future so it's anyone's guess. I expect they won't do more than offer the web-based version because the user input on the iPad is so clumsy. But things can change. If you need something now, you would probably do better to look at getting a MacBook of some ilk or a small PC notebook.

And what do think about the scanner?

I don't have an opinion on that one but I think there is great potential for 3D scanners in general. Kind of a cool idea to be able to scan a room and use the data to generate the geometry in SketchUp. As long as it doesn't create a huge file because of an excessive number of data points.

I have one of the scanect mark 2 scanners, I took them about 6 months to get the apps sorted out, so many little problems, bad battery life , unable to calibrate
About a month ago we got it all dialed in,but still we’re having problems
I’m on complete lock down for 2 weeks so I’ll play with it more
Anyone else out there into scanning yet?
