Hi lockdown224, hi folks. Your blue axis is upside down. The dotted part should be pointing downward. Just ideas.

@dale said: Having used both Mac and PC with SketchUp, I still feel the Mac version is way more glitchier than the PC. This also really depends on the video card. The dreaded NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M in the older MacBook pro with its blackout issues is a real winner. I too find the my PC version is more stable than my mac. Set your autosave up and create back ups. If it persists on a particular model copy the geometry to a blank model, that helps on my mac.

create the roof objects with different mats applied in the same file. set up views and save them as scenes. use 'add hidden layer' ruby: create set of hidden layers (according to the number of mats) assign those layers to corresponding roofs. tweak the roofs layers visibility and update\add your scenes.

Well, sorry, I am still on an XP desktop and did not even think about the permission things (good to keep in mind though, thanks!). As for the Chippewas - the Addams Family 2 comes to my mind (sorry) [flash=640,376:38bk2fqp]http://www.youtube.com/v/ccj2BH25c0I[/flash:38bk2fqp]

From what i understand about SU is that it uses the graphics card to a lot of the work.

You can also try Edge Tools plugin: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?t=24593 Tool there that will highlight exactly where the gaps are.

And whilst I could not get different units displaying in the two panes, I did manage to get one pane to show the units suffix and the other pane display without the 'mm' - seems illogical and inconsistent. Before now it always seemed to display in current units properly ? Can anyone else get my effect ?

What TIG says... In SU, the only "native" way of projecting is planar. This may be okay from certain views (and not very curvy meshes) but of course, has its limitations...

Yes, I agree with you and I will try the end points suggestion. Regards the surfaces I used curviloft but I am really struggeling with it as there is no real documentation. Things are happening that I don't understand, sometimes when I selct a line it will e.g. select a whole rectangle and so on. If you can point me to a tutorial that is suitbale for a humble beginner (skinning is what I'm really after) that would be great. Thanks for your kind help anyway. There are so many little things I am struggling but I set myself a bigger project knowing I will come across many points where I will have to learn new things. All the best Mike

Ok, so just copying different instances for different walls is the correct way to do it without a plug-in. Thanks, and thanks for the great video!
