Whenever I edit a group in my model, all the edges disappear. But I need them to show and changing the style does not help. What could this be? Any ideas how I can get them back?

Hard to tell without the model but a guess comes to mind. If your group doesn't include the edges, the edges will fade out or be made invisible when you open the group for editing. Put the edges into the group and all should be fine.

Have you tried with plugins disabled?

I started to upload a model that shows the problem ... and the problem went away.

                I'll be back!

Ok, lemme try again. The problem is intermittent, but this will show you what I mean.

Isn't that because you have a sketchy style, and you also have overlapping faces (as well as normals flipped) and adjacent faces not properly merged together. With sketchy styles, when you have edges very close each other SketchUp will stop displaying some of them to avoid too many sketchy lines overlapping. As mentioned, there is a lot overlap in this model.

I'd in any case, regardless of the cause, recommend you model without sketchy lines (it's faster) and use sketchy styles when you export. Also clean up your geometry, all the overlapping faces that's z-fighting, the direction of the faces and ensure they merge properly.

Thomas is correct. It is because you have a sketchy style applied that the edges disappear when you open a group for editing. Do your drawing and editing with a non-sketch line style (from the Default library) and save the sketchy style for display/image export.

Your model is pretty sloppy with reversed faces as well as overlapping faces. Fixing those things would probably make your modeling work easier.
