Make the lattice into a component or group and place it where you need it in the model. Remember you're working in 3D space so you can place one thing in from of another.

Sounds like a Windoze system problem... Does it only occur with SKP files ? If so try reinstalling SketchUp... Otherwise you must try some 'system tool' fixes [beyond the scope of this forum ]

@thomthom said: Is it enabled under Extensions? Huh. It was not. Don't understand how that happened, I haven't messed with any extensions in quite a while. Oh well, it's back now, and all is right with the world (except for maybe a couple of things -- the economy, congress, the environment......) Thanks much

I wasn't as close as I though I was, but ¾” isn't that bad either. I basically have 29 slat pairs I need to adjust the spacing to make is work. So if you look at the inside of the door, you'll see the 6 studs don't line up on the slat so the are in the middle of the overlap joint. The 1st couple of attempts at laying out the holes didn't work either. What I'm trying to do is set up a component with all the holes (extra long) and a bottom marker. The bottom marker will line up with the bottom corner of the slat and the holes in the center of the slat. When I get the comp lined up with the slat, I'll open it and explode it, cut the whole comp. Edit the slat and then paste the comp in place and use intersect to make the holes. That a lot of work per slat I know, but until I can figure out an easier way. That's my only option I feel that will work.

@grapefruitsketch said: @dave r said: It won't download? Or you can't run it? Best bet is to log into the Kerkythea forum and ask your question there. I imagine a search of the forum there will turn up an answer to your question before you even ask it. Won't download. I've also posted there, anywhere I could get help would be much appreciated. That forum doesn't seem too active, last post in FAQ-section from June... Kerkythea2008.dmg seems to download just fine. Maybe you need to clean the web-browser cache. Even Kerkythea is some years old, it is still pretty usable free renderer. Forum has still regular visitor.. and forum admins. But like usual we have our own lives too, so don't expect a 24/7 responses.

My favourite technique comes from the fantastic plugin: Fractal terrain erode. Just select the face, plugins ) Erode, be careful with the iterations (the more it will take a lot of time and can be buggy...)

@hellnbak said: No Dave, I'm not saying that purging is a replacement for ensuring that your hardware is up to the task. All I'm saying is that when I'm working on a model and the textures start disappearing when I move or orbit it, or movement gets sluggish, even if I have changed nothing in the model and have done nothing since the last purge but move the model around a lot, purging does alleviate the problem. Not permanently, but certainly long enuf for me to get on with my work. yeah that's happening to me too! ditto

Hi Slarti, Certain "things" in SketchUp are stored inside the model even if they are deleted from model space (or are not otherwise used in the model). Component, Materials, Styles and (empty) Layers. In each of the browsers of the above (under "In model" where applies), on the right, there is a small, blue icon that triggers a flyout menu. There you can find the "Purge" command. Note that as long as an unpurged component has a material, you cannot purge that material for instance. An alternative is Window > Model info > Statistics - and at the bottom, there is also a Purge button that purges all 4 kinds together. I guess your dae import came in as a component and is still among your "In Model" components.

I decided to try uploading my models through the "Share Model" option inside SketchUp and that seems to have worked. I still don't know what the problem was with the .kmz files and the Cedge error messages - but at least my models can be downloaded into SketchUp without errors now... here is the re-uploaded SpaceX Dragon... http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=b8620dbc2412f040e8467026884ac180&ct=mdsa

@tig said: Have you tried drawing the edges of the road as lines/curves in 3d and using any of the tools I suggested? The native Sandbox from Contours tool might 'skin' a set of edges for you. You cannot simple draw two straight pieces of road that crash into each other and expect a magic tool to sort out the 'transitions' needed. Okay now I see why you did not understand why I could not get jist of it. The sentance: "Have you tried drawing the edges of the road as lines or curves in 3D and using any of the tools I suggested?" shows that I did not clearly specifiy that in my previous post. To think, all of the things you had told me to do with the sandbox tools, I was doing but did not mention that, but instead I was using the sandbox tools by picking one road at a time instead of using the whole map. Therefore when I stamped an intersected road on top of a previous stampped area, it would not come out as a smooth transition between the 2 intersections. Sadly, that it took this many post, when technically I should of just asked how could I make my flat road map follow the contour of my terrain. I will try this out and get back to you if I have anymore problems, and thanks agian.

If I might make a suggestion - if you would try to include a more accurate description of your problem or question in the subject of your post, it will be easier for others to find in the future should they have a similar situation. Plus, it will increase your chances that someone with expertise in the area you are having a problem with will notice the post and maybe provide the help you need. For instance, rather than simply calling it "Frustration" why not "Need tutorial on making SciFi Buildings" or something along those lines.

GREAT! You were correct, I do use a second monitor sometimes and that's where it was! You know , I tried to learn SketchUp when it was first released but I would encounter areas I could not understand and finally gave up. Now,the ability to ask a question and get help is super. Thanks to you both. Jim PS The tutorials available now are also a wonderful learning tool.

Yes the older version of Slicer is still available - it's more forgiving of non-solid objects, but lacks the newer one's ability to 'slot' parts. export for CNC etc...
