Im having a problem with slicer. Help

Hi guys im having trouble with slicer im trying to slice a model car its about 600mmL x 385mmW x 300mmH when i slice it (14mm Y axis) the model dissapears but i can slice it 18mm and its there, whats happening?

I suspect it to be this: http://support.google.com/sketchup/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=36261

It might be a clipping plane issue caused by the car being far away from the origin...
BUT I think it's probably because there are some tiny facets not forming and/or perhaps tiny edges missing after the 'intersections' are made - thus no faced slice is made etc. Sketchup/OpenGL can't cope with the very very small [or or the very very large] - 0.1mm of 0.001sq" if I remember correctly. If a would-be-slice-plane is cutting a very small surface facet it might fail to form all of the intersection edges etc it then needed to for a full loop for that slice's face. It's a limitation of the program, not of the tool itself.
BUT your car could be a made more 'normal' size - like 6m rather than 600mm - Scale it up x10.
Then if you sliced that 'full-sized' version [remembering to increase the slices' thickness by x10 too] the chances are that there would be no tiny edges/facets issues and all of the slices would then form properly. Then you can scale the car and its slices back down later by 0.1 if desired ? Small edges/facets etc can exist, it's their creation that has limitations. -
Here is what im working on, im also trying to make it a solid but im not to sure how? i can see the places that are open (front wheel arches and underneath the body)but unsure how to fill them do i just draw in the empty parts?
p.s. thanks for the quick reply's

It'll never be a 'solid' while it contains sub-components or groups.
Also a 'solid' must consist of only faces and associated edges.
Edges must have two faces - no fewer and no more.
So that excludes edges that don't bound a face, or edges that edge a 'flap' or 'hole' in a face, that thereby only have one face; or edges that have three or more faces - like internal 'partitions'...
Also please make it 'full size' - it has many small facets [use hidden geometry 'on'] it'll almost certainly have issues at that size...
Also work with shadows off while modeling - it makes things so much faster...
There are 60,500+ entities in the exploded model !
Which is a tad on the complex size for slicing !
I suggest you make a much simpler version.
All of the 'coloring' will not carry over in to slices anyway... -
Cool thanks for the tips - i did manage to slice it using the scale up method which worked really well - i used an older version of slicer.

Yes the older version of Slicer is still available - it's more forgiving of non-solid objects, but lacks the newer one's ability to 'slot' parts. export for CNC etc...
