@scrubbrush said: ....I found a tut that said all you have to do is use the move tool on the midpoint of an arc and you can change the bulge. all my arcs are still intact but they are full of endpoints and not main mid point. any attempt to use the move tool moves the entire arc. any one know what's going on? If your arc has an even number of segments, then, as Dave suggested, use the 'Move' tool (nothing selected previously though) to move that endpoint in the middle of the arc. If your arc has an odd number of segments, than you should look for the midpoint right in the middle of the arc, to perform the 'Move' operation to change the bulge. If your arc is grouped, then enter its editing context (double click on it) to be able to change the bulge.

@pbacot said: (Caveat: Today I find the move tool in some instances fails to snap and TT's VertexTools does just fine moving the points. I think it's a bug.) One reason for this could be a prevented autofold. Try to use the alt key while moving the vertex. edit: didn't see the second page, so Rich was faster

Note: Even running from a thumb drive, the SketchUp Viewer applet still writes into the CurrentUser Hive of the Windows Registry. %(#804000)[HKCU\\Software\\Google\\Viewer] Weirdly... the following key is created but never used: %(#804000)[HKCU\\Software\\Google\\SketchUpViewer8]

Thanks, Dave. I'll have a look at it. I don't necessarily require free, though. Do any of you have an opinion about SU Podium?

TGI 3D Smart UV ThomThom's Quad Face Tools Both can map quite well. The latter needs the mesh as a Quad Face compatible setup.

Sorry for the late reply but I have been away all week. The code, as presented, was created and executed in Ruby Web Console. To make it a stand-alone plugin you would need to "wrap" it in a module and def like this. module G2L def g2l mod = Sketchup.active_model ent = mod.active_entities sel = mod.selection sel.each{|ga| if ga.class==Sketchup;;Group ga.entities.each{|gb| if gb.class==Sketchup;;Group gb.layer=ga.layer gb.entities.each{|gc| if gc.class==Sketchup;;Group gc.layer=ga.layer gc.entities.each{|gd| if gd.class==Sketchup;;Group gd.layer=ga.layer end } end } end } end } end end Place a copy in the Plugins folder so that it gets loaded when Skethsup starts. Then in the Ruby Console enter G2L.g2l to execute it. Yes, you can add as many as you need.

@eselick said: Hi Does anyone know how to approach creating a component with parts that don't meet at 90 degrees. In my example, the thickness and width of the parts would be fixed but the intersection angles would change based on the overall width and height of the parent component. I want to use this for adding trim to the gables of the houses I model and wonder if this is possible with DC's? Thanks To trim the edge, you must work with three parts in one component : the center (rectangular) and the edges (triangles). How said pcmoor, you must hide some edges and your component seems to be only one part. Now, you must script the size and place of each part, using the global component angle and length. The length of the edges are calculated with the tangent of the angle and the global width, the lenth of the center with the total length minus edges, etc. Here is an example : Test_DD.skp You can rotate and scale the component (when you rotate, it does'nt update the shape, you must scale or click on it with the "interact" tool) Of course, there are problems when you're near to the horizontal or vercital, because the tangent become huge for one edge.

Hello ThaiI, am not able to successfully import an obj Michael 4 (model of dazstudio) in Sketchup. Have you managed to import a sketchup model with texture in? If yes, can you list me the exact settings? I am a beginner with Daz and I can not find how to make sure if the mapping UVmaps are not stacked (overlappying). Thank you in advance and sorry for my bad english ...

@dave r said: So it isn't installed correctly in the Plugins folder. No wonder it doesn't show up. You should have the SU2KT folder as well as SU2KT.rb and probably a related TXT file. The SU2KT folder should have a number of PNG files, a couple of SKP files and an XML file. THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU! Apparently I've dropped the .rb and .txt file while transferring the stuff from the old laptop. This just saved more than my day!

Its part of information theroy. Have you ever heard of Shannons. Becuase of coding and the confusion of symbols vs bits the community stated to note a different. You don't known what the probability of occurrence is but information on a particular guess is related to 1/p which means an occurrence happening that has low probability carries much more information than one with high probability and if you know that that one can structure the guess to max the information aka entropry and minimize the number of guesses one has to make. Therefore max entropy guess in general , binary search for a specific cases. Actually you are not correct. Only in the case all the probabilities are equal and is the reason I always use the general case.

Hi Helmi, Do you know or use AutoCAD ? I did some short guideline on how to vectorize PDF -> AutoCAD -> SU - assuming that PDF has linework. http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=45500 I was checking other options using Free Inkscape - from PNG directly to DXF R13 Result below... Thanks for such a fast reply Tig. I set the Profile to ON and thickened up the lines a little. Gave me a much better idea of what was going on. There was indeed a line missing along the inner most edge of the section I needed to define. While I couldn't quite get the newly drawn line to go exactly where needed (slight offset), I was able to more/less achieve what I was trying to do. No doubt I just need to "play" with it a little more to figure it out but at least I'm now pointed in the right direction. Thanks again!
