Hi hangten1 My steps... View Top Camera ->Parallel Projection Zoom Extents File -> Print Preview Try with my settings. Scale 1:5 will fit on A4 page. Scale 1:1 will need 995.3mm x 532.8mm page or you can print few views on few pages to get the truss in desired scale. PS. I have PDF Creator installed to test any printing scale and page format available. [image: QhcP_20130413-SUFPrint.jpg] bridge1_beginner.skp bridge1_beginner.pdf

You can also try to import files in the DXF format in the free SU version using this plugin: http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=22199&hilit=dwg+importer#p186621 And use it the same way you'd use dwg. dxf and dwg are common CAD file formats based on AutoCAD, but often available for exporting from other CAD packages.

No. You can edit the segments of a circle, but not the cylinder. If you look at entity info of a circle you can change the segments but not when it's been extruded. Artisan plugin has a tool called "reduce polygons" where you can set the % of reduction. But it won't give you the results you desire on a normal cylinder, works better for a quad/tri mesh as does everything subdivision related.

I find when making windows that it is easier, inside the window component to keep the "raw" edges of the cutting rectangle or shape , then all the other parts of the window are also components. It helps in keeping the window "cutting" and work on the parts of the window later on. At the start this rectangle of edges might be a part of the window pieces, but I separate it out.

You simply right click on one of the axis lines (over empty space otherwise you do not get the context menu of the axes but that of the entity under your cursor). There is the "Reset" menu item if the axes have been moved from the original world axes during any modelling phase. The standard views always follow this original world axes, no matter how you move your axes around. This is why a box modelled according to a (temporary) working axis system, will be out of axis. QWhen setting a temporary axis, one needs to be careful not to change the red/gree plane (if it is for such a model) otherwise the building won't be vertical. This is why it's best to align these temporary axes to something already "flat" and horizontal in the model (like the GE Snapshot)

I have taught SU at a Local college as a side gig and I really enjoyed it. I had to quit due to time restraints. money-wise it wasn't worth it, but it was loads of fun and very satisfying. I wouldn't look to it for income-making --but if you just want a pay-it-forward kind of experience. . .it's great. My students often got better than me after about . . .oh. ..20 minutes.

I was able to download finally using Chrome. I still don't know why it suddenly won't work with IE9 I tried setting my security way down. The pop up blocker was off. But at least Chrome worked.

^^^ What notareal says is correct; you could do it, but I can't see any gain.

I use SketchupPro 8. That plugin doesn't work with this version of Sketchup. On a side note, Solo I've seen some of your working using Vue and I'm very impressed. I tried rendering using Vue and I was unsatisfied with the long render times and poor quality end result therefore I have yet to use it for a commercial project. Can you provide me some do's and don't s when it comes to lighting an exterior scene in Vue. I want decent quality and reasonable render times. I'd really appreciate that. Thanks

Here is a quick method of calculating the required angle with SketchUp tools. It is accurate enough, as the FOV can only be input in full degrees. [image: vLIx_Capture.PNG] Anssi

Hi Valve90210, hi folks. There are no differences between the Pro and the Free version to do what you want. Before using unnecessary tools and/or plugins, try using basic tools and learn how to master these. Click in sequence on the scenes tabs of this SketchUp file for ideas: Shelf with slots.skp

Thanks John; but personally I think of it as something akin to OCD when faced with redundant polygons.

The reason I ask is that I am using randompushpull.rb and wasn't sure if I selected an entire subdivided face including all of the associated edges in that subdivided face that it would make a difference on how the script worked or the resulting elements....but in testing it appears there is no difference.
