TIG: I have been doing something similar on a component by component basis. The problem is some of my models have 100's of these skewed objects (the example I show is small). Hence, sdmitch has been looking to help solve the problem in mass. The need for doing so is driven by that fact the skewed objects must be detailed in Layout and can not be done so accurately while they are skewed. So the thought was simple...the solution less so. 1.) reset the axis 2.) de-skew 3.) use the Plugin Parts-->Scene 4.) Detail in Layout Step 1 and 2 were taking forever doing them manually so I asked for help in 1.) Asking if I first understood my problem 2.) Seeking alternative existing solutions 3.) finding help in developing a solution for the problem in scale. Seems like sdmitch has a 95% solution. As you can see from his posts, most of the objects are de-skewed with the script he is working on except for nested ones. This is huge and if he solves the last piece it is monumental for me personally. If I had just a few items to contend with I would use the native menu driven solutions. That works fine...but when many model with many items are in this condition the problem is, well...difficult.

Sketchup users don't all know eachother. Try using a private investigator, or better yet, commission somebody to make transformers models for you

@unknownuser said: Window....preferences....open gl......Untick "use maximum texture size" You may have to change your style and purge unused....than re-select the style that you were using. Charlie That worked perfectly, thanks!

Do you have section cuts with faces at various locations through the model? If so, turn off the layers for the section cuts so they don't show. That'll probably get rid of those vertical light lines as well, which are probably unpainted faces in the section cuts.

glenn: 2013 ok and 2014 issues does not mean it is a foregone conclusion the problem is 2014 although probability higher. It sounds like 2014 is waiting from some entity to release its operation such that 2014 can complete the close action. This can be caused by virus, autoruns etc. You would be surprised the number of programs running on you machine. Make sure you graphics driver, antivirus definitions are up to date and run scan of your system. If your security software has the option check auto runs(startups) and stop programs you do not need and also run registry scan. I have not seen this issue with my 2014 but using free so Trimble will probably have problem duplicating issue although they should be able to have you run a program to trap failure using some of the System Internals TS tools.

I know that the drawings shown are to illustrate how to color zones in SketchUp, not claimed to be realistic WiFi coverage maps. But in case anyone didn't realize: you will need to measure both signal and noise (or "quality") at a bunch of locations to create your map, which will have more complicated shapes than the circular zones depicted. Walls, cabinets, furniture, etc. block WiFi signals in complex ways, and noise sources such as cordless phones provide varying interference. Generating the "heat map" in the first place is harder than painting it in SketchUp!

Makes sense but should be under "Texture". Perhaps these buttons could be added where the colorize and reset color options are now and those two could be moved to a new line and be next to each other.

There's a problem here with round edges... You will have to make hidden lines visible first. Go to menu View > Hidden Geometry so you can see the lines that make the round edges and can accurately place your model.

It's much easier to cope with import/export of spreadsheet data in CSV [comma or tab separated format text files] - these are easily integrated in Excel outside of SketchUp. You CAN read/write XLS binary files using Excel and Ruby-side Win .so files - PC only. BUT it's much more convoluted... With 'gem' Excel-compatible speadsheet stuff available from v2014, with its Ruby2, it'll be considerably easier... https://github.com/zdavatz/spreadsheet So the read/write of data is possible, making a box is straightforward, and placing them manually is easy... BUT optimizing the arrangements of different sizes in a fixed volume is a complex algorithm... if you crack it please share it...

As far as I know, Sketchup has no relation to Active X, and has never had any relation to it, since the display language used is OpenGL for the program. There may be something else going on there. Probably can't hurt to check your graphics card website for updates. EDIT EDIT EDIT: My apologies. I must have been half asleep. Active X is a Windows operating system feature. I was thinking Direct X. Please disregard this whole reply.

Cotty, where was that?(Edit-Obviously in the sight!) I made the edges coplanar, put it didn't closed. (Edit I have had another go on it, and it worked ...) I wonder sometimes, how can one achieve such a faulty model. Since there are some other open faces that won't close I would advice you to remodel the part entirely. Since it is a symmetric model, I would use follow me tool to recreate it. [image: DxRB_partneededbottomcleared-fixed.jpg]
