Thank you Dave for your help. Turns out Zorro2 was not even necessary. Your suggestion to simply select the top part of the model and move it down worked like a charm.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I was trying to close down the holes and fix it, only to run into that same problem again. Which basically lead me to redrawing those parts again, but it's fixed now. Thanks!

The situation you describe is not a bug. It is typical behavior due to the way OpenGL works. In the situation you describe with sheathing over studs, when you soom back beyond a certain point, the sheathing isn't thick enough to mask the studs. OpenGL considers the inside and outside faces to be in the same plane and in the same plane as the outside surface of the studs. You'll notice as you zoom in, the display changes and the studs no longer show. There are solutions to prevent the studs from showing through the sheathing. A common one and probably the easiest would be to put the framing groups or components on a layer separate from the sheathing. When you don't need to show the framing, turn that layer off.

It sounds to me as if you are opening the group's wrapper and copying the geometry inside. Then you are pasting it while the group is still open for editing leaving that geometry inside the same wrapper. Instead you should make sure the group is closed. and copy it wrapper and all. When you select the group for copying it should have a blue box around it. That indicates you've got the whole group to copy. Next, instead of copying with Ctrl-C you should be using the Move tool to copy the group. Select the group, get the Move tool and hit Ctrl to toggle on the copy function. Then click on the the group and move the copy in the desired direction. You can specify the distance by letting go of the mouse and typing the desired distance. You should check out the online help files (use the Help menu) on the Move tool. If you are creating a stud wall, you can do something such as copy the first stud and type 16, hit Enter. Then immediately type *n or Xn where n is the number of copies you want in addition to the original. Each copy will be 16 in. from the previous one. It's dead simple to create a stud wall that way. As in real construction, it is likely the last one will need to be moved in a little bit but you can do that easily enough when you get tot hat point. Also, instead of making the stud a group, make it a component. You can save it for later use and leverage a number of strengths components have over groups.

I like the idea of using otherwise wasted space. I'll be interested to see your plan.

the alignment of the window frame with the ship's hull is indeed working well that way, just the glass plane does not cut through entirely the underlying hull meshes - which reckon can be expected with this sort of uneven/curved mesh [image: XOnz_componentgluedto.PNG]

Kerkythea can do clay renders. I expect almost any rendering app can do them. When I read chalk, I think of this sort of thing. [image: 8160873898_89b72a70d0.jpg]

@zergone said: Hello, I would like to do the following: • Read CSV file containing height and width of the object (depth is optional or same for all) • Create 3D object (1 per row of CSV file) • Export as Collada file I guess it would be achievable since I have similar workflow to create images/textures in Pyhton. It is obvious I don't know Ruby. Are there any extensions that I could use? Thank you. I think I have a plugin that will do this for you but would like to test it with your data first so post or PM me the CSV file.

Yes, there have been a lot of under-the-hood improvements that might not be so obvious to the user but they should make it possible for more noticeable feature upgrades in subsequent versions. There have been major improvements in LayOut, too. As for when SU2015 will come, it's anyone's guess but based on SU2014, it would be reasonable to expect the next version to come in the first quarter of 2015 or so.
