@ddk said: trying to figure out how to add this rb file, its not showing up in the install list but is in my downloads .... I don't know code so im not changing it.. can anyone help with newb terms? :? there is no 'auto-instal' for any .rb files, only .rbz... notice the 'z', it's stands for 'zipped', so if you 'zip' any .rb then rename it's extension from .zip to .rbz, it will appear in the add extension list... john

Just following up........I looked to the Trimble SU........Knowledge center.......(search) HLR. As I suspected.......the HLR print (output) option is vector based output. So...somewhere......somehow.....the black dimension boxes are cause/effect of......?? SU dimension text fails to convert/display as vector? User "success" in printing to HLR (w/o blacked out dimension text) .....most likely does not contain any vector based attributes. (IOW: print driver is really printing as .jpg/or other "image" file) I do not have an answer/solution.......but to say the HLR print option......when used with a vector capable print driver.......will unfortunately create the blacked out text/dims. as depicted above. Best, C [image: 1FqZ_TrimbleSU_HLR.PNG]

I did get thrupaint...havent quite got it mastered though. Need to read the instructions:) Just for the heck of it, I tried using the followmeandkeep plugin even though it is a straight forward follow me situation and so far the materials are staying oriented correctly around corners...not sure why that would be, but it works. p

Maybe if you back up the question I have is about how to best organize my model. I'm not really yet fluent with outliner and layers and the best way to show varying model options to clients. I'm modelling my house and playing with new walls. I'll look up some youtubes on it.

Thanks for confirming they didn't move to the Pro version or something silly like that. Reinstalled as admin this time. Now they're back. Thanks!

I'm not sure if i understand your question and your problem. But i think - depending on your groundplan and details - simply one or two components.

You could use 2D Tools line style tool to locate the edges. Those won't get erased. However you have to keep them grouped separately if you want to keep them from interacting with geometry and be able to hide them eventually. So really any line can be used.It would be nice if you could use the line style tool to differentiate the lines from your model lines. Edit. Basically what Dave says, a group and layer that is for layout lines-- and a scene if needed.

@zook247 said: Ah, the amazing Ms. Eneroth III comes to my rescue yet again! Only problem is I can't seem to save the scene with these aspect ratios which would be a nice enhancement if it can even be done. to do that, one approach would be to keep the window size how it is, use the camera tools to set up your scenes, export 2D files of your scenes at desired aspect ratio, then print that file instead of printing directly from sketchup. i.e. : [image: mxg5_act1.jpg] [image: 0zTf_act2.jpg] [image: gALp_act3.jpg]

You can unlock and hide the Google Map grab. Then create your own map in it's place and the model will retain the geolocation.

Maybe I'll turn off auto-save in LayOut to avoid such a clash. Thanks for the idea.

@djh said: @slbaumgartner said: Your picture suggests that you have nested groups. Have you enabled receive shadows on all the levels of nesting? A nested object will not receive shadows if its containing group does not. Sorry, I don't know what nesting is. All objects are on Layer0. I exploded all of the objects, but the shadows still don't appear on the objects. As Dave has pointed out, it is possible that the file is corrupted. The following is meant to be tutorial, in reply to your statement that you don't know what nesting is, since if you don't understand that concept it is still possible it is the cause of your issue. For example, if you don't get the idea, "exploded all of the objects" might actually have left something intact. "Nesting" is when you place or create a Group or ComponentInstance inside another Group or ComponentInstance. In your "still doesn't receive shadows" jpg, I see two different bounding boxes surrounding the selected Face, one around the corner panels and one around the rectangular group of corners (a room?). Due to the style I am not certain whether the panel on which the Face lies is also a Group. So, there could potentially be a Face nested in a panel Group nested in a corner Group nested in a room Group. The importance in this particular case is that the settings on containers and the things they contain interact. Specifically, shadows won't be cast on the Face unless the flag is set correctly on each of those levels of nesting. [edited to change "layers" to levels in the last sentence - poor choice of words since "layers" are a different thing]

It's a good guess and I've tried it... No luck.

@lersince1991 said: I need the outer bounding edges rather than the inner. I think everyone understands you want the bounding edges. Are they on the same plane? If so, retracing any edge will create the face which will then allow for the identification of the edges that form the boundary. If you can share a sample model, it will help us help you.

@ntxdave said: Sorry to keep coming back but are you saying that Sketchy Physics creates the animated gif file? Not exactly, Sketchy creates the animation within sketchup and I have simply used a screen recorder to capture it. I think the plugin has a way of exporting the animation, but I've not gone into that and I may be wrong. I know it does save animations that you can view from any angle though. Having looked further I see you can export the animation as PNG, JPG or SKP frames. @ntxdave said: Another "learning" question: How do you achieve the indented curve look of your spiral blade? I have never had to do anything like this but when I learn tricks like that from you guys it helps me get a better overall grip of the tool. There are quite a few ways, everyone has their favourite, screw was mentioned a few posts back, curviloft will do it, some of tig's tools etc etc This is one way, Eneroth makes some fantastic plugins but is very quiet about them, better known on the Extension warehouse I think. This is done using her Upright Extruder. [image: Up.gif]

There are several topo plugins, none of which I have used, Toposhaper for one. But off the top of my head I would say have you tried Tig's Slicer. It will create multiple slices and even lay them out flat as individual contours.

@dave r said: Well, that sucks. Yes, annoying... @dave r said: Do you like having the floating toolbar or is it just because you want the toolbar three tools wide? To answer the off topic questions: no and yes. I'm used to ver.8 and a wider sticky toolbar. When evaluating ver.2015 it seems crippled in the ability to configure the toolbar, unless it's made floating, but then again not all tools can be moved to a custom floating toolbar (sandbox tools fails if I recall correctly). Where should I report this bug anyway?

Robotics and 3D printing continue to converge on many different levels. Whether it is the robotic movements of 3D printers themselves, or the creation of better robotics through the use of 3D printing for complete customization, the technologies definitely have a magnificent future together. We have seen numerous robots created through the use of 3D printing, which has allowed for their total customization, while at the same time saving hundreds or even thousands of dollars in machine and injection molding costs.
