Dash and center lines

I have a need to work with dash lines, center lines, etc and I also use a lot of guidelines. Is there a way to keep my dash and center lines when I go to Edit/Delete guide lines. Every plugin I have came across like the pen tool, construction lines, etc are deleted when ever i go to Edit/Delete Guidelines

Guidelines are NOT dashed or center lines and aren't intended as such. You can use the line style thing in TIG's 2D Tools or you can use the Dashed Lines plugin from Smustard. The best thing would be to put dashed and centerline lines in using LayOut

I am going to draw my center lines and hidden lines in layout but I need the guidelines in sketchup to mark out exacrly where to draw them.... I use guides to do everything so it gets a bit clustered with guidelines and if I do edit/Delete guidelines I will loose those guides i want to keep.

So don't use guidelines for that. I use dashed lines all the time in LO for hidden lines and to show assembly in exploded views. I have two methods I use depending on the complexity of the drawing and the phase of the moon. I draw lines with the Line tool in SU and either trace those in LO followed by deleting the lines in SU and updating the reference. For the second method, I put the lines on a separate layer in SU and make a separate scene (maybe called "Dashed Lines") for them. Then in LO, I copy the viewport of the model and paste it onto a layer higher in the list, change the viewport to the Dashed Lines scene. I explode that viewport and ungroup the lines if needed before changing the stroke style. This second one takes a slight amount of thought but it's really handy and you don't have to trace the lines.

You could use 2D Tools line style tool to locate the edges. Those won't get erased. However you have to keep them grouped separately if you want to keep them from interacting with geometry and be able to hide them eventually. So really any line can be used.It would be nice if you could use the line style tool to differentiate the lines from your model lines.
Edit. Basically what Dave says, a group and layer that is for layout lines-- and a scene if needed.
