Glad you got it... you'll notice color on screen works in more places, but is affected by things like bounding box and such. color in object should be more precise to other materials. it's a good way to get your wood to match a door or what not.

Is there a plugins folder in the proper location? Have you tried a fresh install with the 2015 update?

@slbaumgartner said: Out of curiosity, did you try showing hidden geometry to see whether that face was split by a non-visible line already? Yeah, that's how I verified the direction I should use when drawing the line. As I said before, this wasn't an issue using the FollowMe tool, it was the Upright Extruder. The product of both functions look identical in the middle of the extrusion; FollowMe along an Arc screws up at both ends, the Upright Extruder gets the start correct by has the same flaw at the end. You would not know the faces in the middle were actually quite different in the results of each function until you started texturing.

Some faces are not 'flat' or 'coplanar'. So they are intersecting with other faces. Switch the view to Xray mode to see what I mean. If you expect this to happen [but I think NOT!] and want edges at show at those intersections, then select a face ad right-click context-menu intersect... Model all geometry on 'Layer0' [always have that set as the active layer] To keep the modeling neat and tidy make groups of related geometry. That way grouped parts don't 'stick together' and you can even assign a new layer to them, which you can switch off, controlling visibility and making working with multi-level projects much easier...

Lumion gets a bad knock because it is expensive. But it has one thing that no one has....SPEED!! It is just too significant to ignore now. I can't sit around for hours waiting and I am not interested in the complicity of a rendering that requires a farm. Depending on who's hands it is in Lumion is now coming within a hair of the best in render quality both interior and exterior. It is so easy to set up and run that anyone can do it and of course there are some pretty wonky works of art out there in Lumion. There are also some masters. One last point that was the deal breaker for me the licence holds its retail valueand can be sold on the open market. I have tried all the others but Lumion has really put me into production. I actually make money now selling renderings. If you are landscaping I suggest you get the free version of Lumion and build a forest. Then go build a forest with your favorite second choice. That will do it for you.

^ follow me etc work perfectly fine and accurate in many (probably most) situations. it's not broken and doesn't need replaced. just tuned up for how it works on arcs and circles is all. there doesn't need to be two different tools. it's a simple 1rail sweep tool. if the path is an arc, it should sweep an arc.. if you're offsetting an arc, it should offset an arc.. if your path doesn't contain an arc then it acts like it does now.

@jeff hammond said: @slbaumgartner said: In this specific case the reason I view it is a bug is that a routine "intersect with" finds all of the missing edges quite readily. It seems like follow me quit while there was geometry remaining that it does know how to handle. idk, even if follow-me worked accurately, it would still fail in this circumstance.. it's being fed bad data in the first place because noName is trying to tell it to revolve a profile around a radius which is smaller than the profile itself.. there isn't a solution for that other than some of the corner being smooth and some of it being kinked.. bascially noName, you should followme the edge except for these two tight corners then construct the corners manually or separately using something like curviloft for the blend. ahh, yes that is one way I will try. Thanks for all the help.

You can try to rebuild your Windows icon cache (in Vista, Win7, Win8) - worked for me with missing icons in the start menu (Win7): Close and save anything that you are working on. This command will kill explorer and restart the computer when completed. Open the command prompt (cmd) In the command prompt, Copy and paste each command line below exactly as is one at a time and press enter after each command. WARNING: The last command will restart the computer, so be sure to close and save anything that you are working on first. ie4uinit.exe -ClearIconCache taskkill /IM explorer.exe /F DEL "%localappdata%\IconCache.db" /A shutdown /r /f /t 00 The IconCache.db file has now been rebuilt.

The annoying thing is that the cursor issues though not infrequent are not consistently repeatable. Sometimes they happen, sometimes not...I've never detected a specific trigger. Steve

@box said: You can get problems with the origin from a cad file even when it seems to be in the right place. I recently fixed a DWG that was causing clipping that the user was adamant that the origin was correct. I checked and in this case it had been imported with retain origin intact ticked, so when I looked for it the true origin of the dwg was 69,000 miles from the SU origin. The times I have a problem were with files I created in SU. I do not import other files, they have a lol been my creations.

Thanks jeff for your efforts. I know there is lots of layers, and also I tried moving everything to a Layer0 which is sketchup default layer I believe but nothing changed in that model that you tried. Well I realize something I'm not sure about it but, SU automatically smooths some edges I think? I mean each Height Level (contours) was COMPONENT when I imported from autocad anyway, yesterday I exploded them to make it GROUP to get rid of components, and to make it just single geometry. Maybe that causes such behaviour like this.. Now I think, SU changes or soften some edges in every "make component/explode" situation in bigger geometries, models. [image: ss4.png] This is the model that Im talking about. I didnt tried on this before, shame for me If you still interesting you may check this model with unexploded height contours components. Looks like problem solved spontaneously for me . fyi, this 2nd model that I upload have much more edges than other. Thanks for your time.

@box said: Here's a quick one for aligning a component that is off on more than one axis. And then exploding two components to make one. The two off screen menu selections are, Explode, then Make Component. [image: Rotate%20and%20combine.gif] Ahh, thank you, that's a lot more clear. slbaumgartner, I will post the sketchup file with future problems. Thanks for help. Much appreciated.

I've certainly not seen anything like that and it's hard to guess from your image. Perhaps you can upload a model in which it is happening, this way someone can look at it and confirm one way or the other if it is your system or something in the model that is repeatable for others.

Just following up........I looked to the Trimble SU........Knowledge center.......(search) HLR. As I suspected.......the HLR print (output) option is vector based output. So...somewhere......somehow.....the black dimension boxes are cause/effect of......?? SU dimension text fails to convert/display as vector? User "success" in printing to HLR (w/o blacked out dimension text) .....most likely does not contain any vector based attributes. (IOW: print driver is really printing as .jpg/or other "image" file) I do not have an answer/solution.......but to say the HLR print option......when used with a vector capable print driver.......will unfortunately create the blacked out text/dims. as depicted above. Best, C [image: 1FqZ_TrimbleSU_HLR.PNG]
