In my example I found that the path itself is the problem Probably because it becomes part of the volume along the edge Once I removed the path the volume was calculated as a whole. I retried when moving the faces slightly away from the path (so not connected) Somehow the volume was not calculated, but when I now deleted the intermediate faces as TIG suggested I got the complete volume, Strange... Anyway its working now, thanks for the suggestions!

It's a shame that people report user errors as bugs. In the case of the palm tree example as uploaded in the OP's thread, the opacity of the material is set to 50. Shadows are only cast if the opacity is set to 70 or higher. It's always been that way. With opacity set to 70, it works just fine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxYe26CIvuY#t @minguinhirigue, please post an example SKP file that shows what you are referring to. Definitely not a crises situation Dave. I was just curious and of course good to know for the future. Checked your bio as I was sure you were in Minnesota and it is very early there to be at work... then saw the Anaesthesia bit. (Spelling - Brit speak) Oh yea... worked myself in a non-clinical area (Well if you call PI/QM and the guardians of JCAHO, now TJC non clinical) of a local health group for fifteen years, so well aware of the medical hours. I am always thrilled for your help as I know you will come up with a solution to my stupidity. And on another note... I don't know how much time you have to view television, but there is a new programme on HGTV called Ellen's Design Challenge - Furniture Designer Competition and being a lover of all things design related and not too bad with a chop saw myself, I am hooked. I know you do woodworking, so you might like it, all the usual TV drama aside. And how I babble on... TTFN

Pilou, thank you for the help you provided, but unfortunately I don't speak french and wasn't able to understand a lot from Didier's guide, or from the french subforum. Are you kind enough to make a video out of Didier's guide, if I don't ask too much? Or maybe using the Boolean method which I didn't quite understood what you mean by that. Also I would like to know how can you intersect 2 roads that have different width, and they intersect up on a hill, for example. Your help is much appreciated, thanks again.

@schnipschnap said: Hi I tried about everyting.. still saving takes a long time. My drawing consists almost enterely of circles and arcs. (I build Dome Tents and Houses) I always used 1000 sides for circles to get a detailed drawing. Now i know thats too much... I used Autocad before, where circles are calculated somehow different, so i nerver thought this could be a problem. Now i know it is How many sides do you use? Does anyone know how to change number of sides in a entire model? Or do i just have to redraw the whole thing? Thanks for the help! Have you tried Window->Model Info->Statistics to see how many Edges and Faces your model contains? Edges don't take much data, so you could have an enormous number without getting all that large a file. The slow save might be SketchUp making sure the model is valid while saving it. Unlike Autocad, SketchUp does not have an abstract representation of a circle or arc. It represents one as a collection of Edge segments with some metadata tagging them as belonging them to a circle or arc. So, when you choose to use 1000 sides, you are affecting not just the visual presentation but also the size of the model, because each segment is saved individually. For what it is worth, unless you enlarge your view enormously you are very unlikely to see any difference in the view from increasing the sides to more than a couple hundred. There is no way to manually change the number of sides in every circle and arc at one go. Someone could probably write a Ruby to do it, but I don't know of an existing one.

Yes, what I was suggesting is.....it doesn't need to be 2 point or parallel to merge....Photoshop recognises where the images overlap and free transforms/skews them to merge into each other automatically. As panoramas are normally made in a landscape fashion, you may need to rotate your images before processing them. Basically trick photoshop into thinking it's a landscape when it's actually a building. Hope this makes sense. The above panoramas were made up of around 5-7 single images.

@dave r said: Get the Select tool and double click on it somewhere. It'll open for editing. It might be that it's made up of sub-components. If you see more blue bounding boxes, double click again to open for editing. Do that until you get to the edges and faces. Thanks, this helped me.

You certainly get the benefit of higher binned componnents, but the downside is they tend to be a generation behind. I've seen people try to hack the older gamer hardware with the workstation drivers to get the same results(for less money). The proven stability of the components combined with drivers geared for the openGL task and better support are what you pay for. Gamers get irritated about these types of cards because they are not gamer freindly, but I don't game so I don't care.

Thanks John for your reply. my main problem was the inability to get the plugin into s/u plugin extension window, (there was no install extension button.) I finally found a s/u 8 m2 update and now works fine. Jim
