Help with Sandbox Tools
-
I've followed some interesting tutorials using the SandBox tool and I come across a paid plugin (I'm using a free version of it which has limitations), a paid plugin that does some very cool stuff with just a few mouse clicks. I'm talking about Instant Road plugin from Vali Architect. What I'm asking is how the heck is that plugin doing its job? for about 3 days I'm playing with the SandBox tools and can't get the same result as when I'm using the plugin.
Here's a pic of what I'm trying to accomplishBasically: how can I create that type of road without using that plugin? The plugin's subscription fee is expensive for me, so I have to find a way to work without it.
Or maybe you have knowledge of other plugin that does the same thing?Thank you.

As I see you have the pro version of SU, have you try the Boolean Operations ?
Extrude to the bottom your terrain surface for have a "solid"
(with some Fredo6 plugins)Then you can substract any other volume (solid) of your wished road!
Else you have this interesting tutorial by Daredevil! (possible in French but very visual)
With only free PuginsAnd this epic thread (sorry it' s in French, but I am sure you will find some crazy methods!

Pilou, links to threads in the French subforum can't be opened by people who haven't joined the french user group.

Ah damned, it's a pity because it's the best thread about building roads inside Sketchup!
So just join it!By Chon

Pilou, thank you for the help you provided, but unfortunately I don't speak french and wasn't able to understand a lot from Didier's guide, or from the french subforum.
Are you kind enough to make a video out of Didier's guide, if I don't ask too much? Or maybe using the Boolean method which I didn't quite understood what you mean by that.
Also I would like to know how can you intersect 2 roads that have different width, and they intersect up on a hill, for example. Your help is much appreciated, thanks again.
