You are confusing DWF and DXF (Drawing Web Format AND Data eXchange Format). DWF is a read-only version of a DWG file (=AutoCAD DraWinG) - much like a PDF, that is a read-only version of a DOC or similar file. A DWF can be converted to a basic DWG with certain software - much like you can extract the text from a PDF if you have some tools. It can then be used in SUp with limited data. DXF is an old type of a 'text version' of a DWG file (=AutoCAD DraWinG). You easily can open and read a DXF as text, and see what is meant to go where on which layer etc - it IS complex BUT it's still decipherable. It is simply a text version of the binary DWG file - so it's much bigger as the data is split out in easier to read coded packets. DXF is used for data transfer between programs that can't directly read DWG format. By now many programs (like SUp) can read native DWG - unless it's the very latest version where they play 'catchup', BUT many programs still allow DXF import - other programs (e.g. Bryce) only export in DXF so it's good to be able to get that data in even though it's not as 'compact' or perhaps as 'clean' as DWG...

I think you just want to change .zip to .skm But I have never done this before so give that a try. Or just download the entire material bonus pack. There are some goodies in there.

Hi all. I ve been writing with raf a few messages and it seems that the way he found is working really good. It helped me with the two models i had problems with (eventhough they have already been published on GE (without problems)), but I am working on a new model - same problems but rafs solution does not seem to work out. Maybe the next day brings light in the dark of my model textures. Greetings Tim.

Well, I didn't remember your reply there (maybe I never went back to that thread). I't quite a serious issue for Google now as they rely on the uploads to the WH

On the features pages for xnView, it lists .skp files as type "Autodesk SketchUp component" I'm glad that didn't actually happen!

You can remove individual textures by bringing up the Materials menu, selecting 'in model' (the House button) and then right click and deleting the textures one by one - I guess that could take a while if you want to remove them all though.

Hello, Perhaps this is a good place to post my SU Kitchen Modeling Consortium idea. I am not concerned here in opening the SU door to the masses as facilitating SU use for professional designers and architects. With residential remodel design being a large part of my work, I'd like to use SU to present 3d kitchen models in something comparable to that provided by cabinet makers. If professionals worked together online to glean, vet, and share models and systematic modeling methodology, we might make something that is useful to everybody. Agreeing on the quality and impetus of work might be the hardest part among designers. But at least you are not leaving it up to non-designers to ferret out as in 3d Warehouse. The process could start out informally, but of course, it needs a place online to happen. Hope this is not too OT

Lewis -- I'll have to look at XNormal more closely...interesting. Although their website is a train wreck. PP -- It looks like LightUp will do what I want...I've been in touch with Adam...it needs to calculate the lighting first, but it's real-time after that. But my question was about doing it with SketchUp's own shadows, to speed up animations. The pre-calculation should be faster. It seems like such an obvious feature. However, if LightUp can deliver the goods with animation...

@alz said: I wish there was a way to simply rebuild the whole Context Menu. Or if not possible, then allow plugin context menus to be places at the top, instead of the bottom. If you want to get crazy, how about a radial pie menu? Or if not possible, a quad menu (4 context menus cornered to each other... similar to what 3ds MAX has). Each quad would be devoted to a commmon action, like Current Selection, Object Management (layers), Tools, Editor (axis, globals, etc.). BTW, I did find if you simply rename your ruby script, you can change the order where it appears in the menus. For example, if you want options in Zoo.rb to come before Ape.rb, then rename them to 00_Zoo.rb and 01_Ape.rb. +1 for this. fully agree-

Also, in addition to what Bob says, you could tell us where exactly the project is and maybe even a couple of photos of the environment. I guess it would be nice if the whole atmosphere of the new design fit into its history and surroundings.
