Well, this is true. Thus the general "advice": always work (draw) on layer0. I don't even ever make any other layers active.

Can't belive this thread is this old! Because I have just started to have this problem on textures shifting when double clicking on item. This happens on faceme items, specifically a tree I was editing to hide edges around leaves. This is a glitch that needs fixing.

@unknownuser said: I think you should always model for accuracy. I have found too many times I have had to go back and change things after the fact and if I would have modeled accurately in the first place there would have been no need to. Accuracy saves time and money in the end. Scott touché

Further to Jean's advice, make use of SU's "hide rest of model" feature when you are editing a group. Make a keyboard shortcut for it as well, then you can instantly turn it on or off when you are inferencing with background entities.

I think it also depends on what it is used for. If you are creating an image for your own enjoyment and posting on forums such as this (i.e. non-commercial work), you probably wouldn't have any problems. If you are creating commercial work for which you are paid, and used someone's likeness without their knowledge/consent, you will probably run into a problem. The exception is images of historical figures over a certain age (100 years I believe).

Walter, I do not posses a magic script (ruby).....But I can offer a Speed Square. Yeah I know.....not what your after.....but in the mean time give it a try. And if you have never used one before, it's pretty straight forward(see attached). Using the speed square component, align the pivot pt and rotate until vertical or horizontal.(maybe a bit oversimplifying... I know). Oh, and you mention hip roofs, if working with a model just use the cross section tool & the speed square as above. :~) Best, Charlie [image: UT9m_SPEEDSQUARE-APPLIED.jpg] SPEEDSQUARE APPLIED.zip

cheers alpro, some useful tips there. i think the residual blue there is something to do with the model, rather than lighting or anything, i cant remember specifically what was wrong with the model, but theres definetly something not right.

Edson, try adjusting the view slightly (orbit, pan, zoom), also the field of view...and if you can stand the inaccuracy: the scale of the texture. A little bit of play can change the effect quite a bit. I have noticed also that sometimes it shows in the export, as you would expect, but sometimes it doesn't...?

@grdnblak said: I can't seem to figure out how to make your own lights for use within Kerkythea (not the spotlights or point lights that are readily available) i.e. like a neon or strip light. every time i think i have it sussed it appears as a spot or point light in kerky, any ideas how to do this? Hi Gordon! If you haven't done it already, I suggest that you download the Getting Started tutorial, which should help you achieve what you want to... I also encourage you to visit the KT Forum, where you can find many useful tips and tricks... I.e. take a look at the neon lamps for a industry hall thread or the neon lights thread... In KT2008 Echo, which will be released on Wednesday, January 30th, you have the option to use IES lights... To get an idea about what IES is, you can Google it or take a look here... Hope this can help you further..!?
