I recommend the SketchUp plugin MSPhysics as a simulation and animation tool in combination with Twilight Free (Pro approx. 99 €) or Indigo RT (approx. 145 €). Single frame sequences, rendered and/or in SketchUp style, can be easily combined with video software to create movies and superimposed for the desired look.

A very versatile tool indeed! Just a little trick : all Targets must be a same copy component else Source(s) don't follow the different target's orientations! I believe in this one you have Relative size or not! ComponentReplace.zip

I used an old plugin by Matt666 that removes all materials that have been applied to the Group/Component as a whole rather than to the faces. https://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=Remove_CG_mat

Thanks! Just some real world dimensions are missing, but... some easy to follow & learn movements.

There was recently a windows update that affects every intel processor for the past decade, to fix a major security flaw. In certain situations, you could even see a performance reduction of up to 30%. I'm not sure to what degree that this is affecting SketchUp performance, but I have my suspicions that it's caused a little bit of slowness.

I tried that but it doesn't appear to do anything in the 2018 version of sketchup. (EDIT) It also doesn't include groups (only components)

I just tested it with a model made in SU2016. It worked just fine for me. After saving the file and quitting SketchUp, I reopened it and the info was still present.

If one or both objects are either a group or component, there is no entity interference. The objects remain whole, and can be moved out of each others space. The trick to moving components against other objects, without moving them into the other objects space, it to click on an edge, preferably an endpoint of the component to be moved. Then move that component to the target, carefully. As you approach the target, the moved component will snap to the edge/point of the target. Release the component at that point. You can then fine tune the position after that. But there is no restriction to move an object into the same space as some other object. If you grab the component anywhere not on an edge or endpoint, there is no snap to, and it will move freely. To move entities, groups or components INTO another group/comp's space box requires you to select it, clipboard copy it, then edit the group/comp you want it inside of and Paste-in-place. Then move it where you want it. Delete the one in the original position.

@pilou said: You've burned already much more time in this thread! But learn many funny things! @rv1974 said: You've burned already much more time in this thread Haha no doubt you're both correct! Still I feel I have learned useful things from both of you in this thread that I will experiment with, maybe I can find the perfect solution in the end, I do a lot of this plans so I think its on of those worth it once you learn how type things. Thank you both!

Thank you. I figured it out, I guess. Simple really. If I select a component in the list, which seems like the normal thing to do,and right-click the "delete" function is grayed out. But for all the non-selected items on the list it is there to use. This is not very clear at first for, if I don't click on it, the component is not identified, except by where I hover the mouse (even the warning doesn't name the component). I guess I just hate the component window, and will not worry about what's in it or not, and go on avoiding it.
