If you have a license, then you should have access to the Chaos website which has all the vismat files for download or you can also install the Express Tools from your reseller that provided you license. If you are using a not-so-legal copy, then BUY A LICENSE!

@lampe au néon pelle à tarte said: Hi there ! I had the same problem not long ago and I applied the following solution : 1-when you download a vismat, you are provided with a folder containing several files. Usually the vismat itself, a bump file, a displacement file, AND a diffuse file. 2-When your vismat is imported, select it with the eyedropper tool of the Material window in sketchup. Then in the Vray material Editor, in the "diffuse" section, click on the blue M between "color" and "transparency". 3-In the Vray texture Editor, select TexBitmap in the list right Under the preview window. 4-At the top of the window you're in, fill the "file" field by browsing and selecting the diffuse file that came with your downloaded vismat folder. It is a jpeg that usually has either a D or a "Diffuse" in its name.If it's already selected before browsing, act as if it was not, and select it + ok. 5-Click ok and look at your material in your model now. Now it appears as such, and not as a plain meaningless color. Note that now, you can scale it like any sketchup material in the Material window of sketchup. From a beginner to another, my solution might not be so academic, but it worked for me. If it does for you, I'll be glad, since very simple questions for beginners generate very few interrest/answer in this forum. Unfortunately. B good and tell me about it. Amazing! Thank you very much.

Hello. I am a beginner, so please be indulgent if my answer lacks pertinence. I have met the same issue lately. I had to discover myself how to resolve it since in here, it seems the simpler and more basic the question, the rarer the answer. I respect that, as it reminds me Spinoza's "narcissism of small differences" concept. (damn, who the heck do I think I am ?!) Try this as a temporary, yet could work solution: select your material in the Vray material editor click on the blue M in the "Diffuse" area make sure the file you have selected in top is the one that came with your vismat. If not, browse and select it.(has a _d, or diff at end) type OK to come back to the Vray material editor window. By this time, you should notice that your material appears visually as such in your model. Select it and scale it in the material window of sketchup. Now, if you find how to make the pattern to start from a precise point (usefull for a glass blocks door for instance) please let me know. Bon courage. NPAT

That's because you're using an outdated beta of V-Ray for Sketchup that shouldn't even work anymore. I recommend you upgrade to the V-Ray 2.0 Demo or purchase a full license through one of our many reputable re-sellers: http://www.chaosgroup.com/en/2/purchase.html?pID=10.

Version of SketchUp? Version of V-Ray. Sounds like you crashed due to memory. I can't stress how important is to upgrade to 2015 64 bit and the latest version of V-Ray 2.0 Anything else is a waste of your time in my honest opinion.

You need to add a map to your diffuse layer so that V-Ray can get the UVW information to apply the material properly.

There are countless ways. You can combine them as a bigger texture natively: 1 - You can shuffle your texture like you're doing right now; 2 - Select all faces and edges (by triple clicking on one of them) for instance; 3 - Then right click on one of the selected faces; 4 - Use soften/smooth; 5 - Soften everything and check the soften coplanar check box; 6 - Now all faces are a surface 7 - Rightclick on the surface (be carefull to have hidden edges turned off) and it selects all faces at the same time 8 - On that context menu choose make unique texture. It will generate a new texture 2048x2048px or 4096x4096px depending on the texture resolution you have set on preferences. There are plugins that shuffle texture position on faces. Try some of the following plugins and then investigate about UV mapping and search for UV in the Sketchucation Store. http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=ene_texturepositioning_v1.0.2_0 http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=TextureRandomizer http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=TIG-TextureTools

@stefanq said: http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=322&t=41046 Scroll down until you'll find my posts in that thread. This is the way I do it, and it works for me, but you are at the mercy of your map. The gray values in the map, dictates where and how strong your reflection is happen. Cheers. I tested it out. The bump must make the rendering slower (as the 3ds max tutorial seemed so much quicker and easier) But still, having said that, this seems to work great, thank you so much for your help.

I think I found the reason : I made Component out of Rectangle light so to be able to copy it. When component light is copied it is possible to change settings of all copied components in the same time, not each light separately. I thought changing the light into component might be the reason of grainy light. I checked it: made new rectangular light and then changed it into Component. Before the change it worked perfectly smooth, after it become grainy. What scares me is that when I have 50 lights in sloping ceiling and I want to change the power of them I have to change setting of each light separately. After 1 hour of further working on the project I found that strange: I made rectangular light under cupboard, created Component out of it and duplicated it. The light was not grainy ( the picture below ). I don't understand. [image: 0RsO_26.1.e.jpg]

There is no way about the bobles to ignore them and you have to model them, if you are interested to have a close look. but if you are gonna have a distance look, so there are some tricks, such as reducing the refraction glassiness, etc.

Also make sure that if your glass has thickness, that the glass material is applied to both front and back faces.

+1 on the Perpetual License option, the subscription licensing kept me from evening trying LightUp, I hope other developers whose software is subscription based follow your lead and give us a choice. Mike
