Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

This lack of anti aliasing options issue has only appeared with late model Macs, I have a G4 which does give access to the graphics card & the SU viewport displayed great presentation - I contacted Apple & the Graphics card manufacturers & received no positive feedback, you can't use older Graphics cards in newer Macs either.

The SU dwg/dxf exporter has what I would call a bug - it doesn't record the unit used in the exported file. That means that most of the "receiving" applications interpret that the file uses inches. When importing to AutoCad, the application can be taught not to scale the import in any way, but I have found it easier to open it first separately and change the scale settings in the file before inserting it in my drawings. For a DXF it would be possible to correct the file in a text editor, but it is still up to the receiving app if it reads the info correctly. Anssi

Well, as I first wrote, this is where I am stumped as it's a Mac only feature so I have never been able to play around with it and don1t know what the trick are.

When you export a 3D DXF it's created with the 'Units' that are currently set in 'Model Info'. In your case 'cm' - so a line 10cm long has its length set in the 3D DXF as '10.0' When you export a 2D DXF it's always made in 'inches' - you cannot change this. So a line that was 10cm long in SUp now has its length in the 2D DXF as 3.937007874016 (inches) [1/2.54] However, if you know it was in 'cm' and is now in 'inches' then you can easily apply a scaling factor to all of its contents, following the above guidance...

SUp's inferencing can be like magic sometimes - it can be annoying at others BUT with use you know how to fool it into, for example, not locking the snap to the red axis when you are trying to pick a point just off it [tip orbit arouns so that the direction you are moving the cursor is not parallel to the sides of the screen - the red inference is less like to predominate - or still your cursor and wait a second and it'll suggest another inference]

@unknownuser said: We go to the moon but we can't know why these tools are named "french curve"! That is strange bizarre The only Frenchman in the discussion is the one who has names like Parrot and Pistol for the different shapes. I think that answers the question. I suspect that in 19th Century architecture they were indispensable for designing French-styled embellishments.

Hi there, Have you tried SU Sandbox tools? You should enable it first, since they don´t appear in SU by default http://sketchup.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=38496 As for the plugins, you could try Sculpt Tools http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=20781&hilit=plugin

Yes, I have been researching it. But the project is on hold until I get some others out of the way. However, ToolsOnSurface's offset should usually yield a better result than the native Offset.
