Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

The serial number was part of the old Classic license system. SketchUp 2023 is only available by subscription. You won't get a serial number. The e-mail address and password assigned to the subscription is used to sign in.

At work we've used a Shark HD5 for about 8 years. It's still going but we just recently bought a new Shark HD520. Yes, it's more than your budget but they are great machines. They have an HD500 for under $3K that has a 13x25x7 travel. Also comes with a copy of Vcarve Desktop software. Might be worth a look. Good luck

Ah.... So no imagery with Add Location? If you're contacting Marin County for imagery you might ask about contour in some CAD format you can import.

I believe that you can also use some Dynamic components!

Hi Dave, Was dragged into other territoties and had to get off this project for a bit. Thanks for your response. Responding to your question, "So you want to select only the edges in the model or at least within a selected region? You could select all of the geometry including the faces"? : Ideally what I was looking to do was select (in the example image) only the line [and all its connected segments] between the hand-drawn blue endpoints/arrows. I probably should have colored that entire length. This section of line (essentially 4 connected arcs in this case) is co-planar with all the other visible elements. So I don't believe its not categorized a true "edge"; its a kind of "island edge" submerged within the larger face. The select/deselect method is one that I often use (or version of that toggling between face/wireframe visibility) - but in this case the trick is selecting just that area without selecting other edges (which would also then remain selected). If I were to do that a be left with multiple, connected edges, I'd either still need to manually, individually deselect segments (if the curves were 'broken'), or arcs (if they were true welded arcs). For some reason, 2x-clicking to remove the unneeded lines/edges as entire connected lines was not working - and 3x-clicking was reselecting the faces. Thx

You could also use the trial of Revit and export obj, fbx or ifc from there.

@box said: I was quite grumpy earlier. Here is a very quick example of how a shape can be bent using Radial Bending. [image: 4rPtyCX.gif] That's wonderful! I had FredoScale installed a year ago when I bought the Fredo6 Collection bundle. However, I haven't used this plugin a lot, and because of you, now I know that there are more possibilities with this plugin. THANK YOUUUU!!!

@mill3rluke said: iv have now learned to keep the models small so i have no problem with using the model myself. That's good. @mill3rluke said: When im on teams the other end say the model just freezes and then catches up its just very slow. but its not slow my end? I think that's going to be your connection or Teams, not SketchUp. Are you initiating the meeting? I used to run into sluggishness with GoToMeeting if I initiate the meeting but make someone else the presenter so they can share their screen. @mill3rluke said: Very annoying as i can bring alot of people together over teams and the models help all with my projects with decision making etc. Understood. You might look at some other option for screensharing.

@ntxdave said: Very interesting. I looked at their web site. Can you tell me what QueryTool is? It's a tool that places lights and sets shader properties for materials in your model. In this case, you Alt Left click on a face with a material applied and tell LightUp to generate grass at render time.

@letssee said: Dave, had layout created over multiple years, thus must have been available longer than 30d. Yes. LayOut has been available for longer than 30 days. The first version was released in 2008. Sometime shortly after Google purchased SketchUp in March of 2006 they changed the trial period from 8 hours to 30 days and in January 2007 began offering a free version of SketchUp. That free version started with a 30-day trial of pro with all of the available features of SketchUp Pro. When LayOut was introduced it was included as part of the Pro trial and that continued up until the point at which they stop offering SketchUp 2017 Make about two years ago. @letssee said: Many years ago replaced computer, then problems occured (not only with sketchup). What problem? In any case, if you installed SketchUp Make on a new computer you would have started with another 30-day trial period of Pro and thus you would have had access to LayOut during that time. @letssee said: Doesn't matter, ultimately I will buy the new "commercial licence" despite not being commercially using it. That's fine. The subscription will give you SketchUp Pro, LayOut, SketchUp Go (web-based), SketchUp for iPad and a bunch of other options. @letssee said: I was of course hoping that one day a trimble staff reads this hence why my words have deeper meaning (still hope and expect them to do that). Here is the best place to be if they want to make new generations loyal and sell more. Someone from the SketchUp team will likely see this thread. I expect at this point the bean counters and marketing people have run the numbers enough to have a good idea of what will actually work to pay the bills and keep the shareholders happy.

Thats a good idea. Never really thought of a portfolio. ALthough the work I do at work I probably couldnt use as its for an employer. I suppose it gives me a good excuse to do some design stuff for myself to get some models.

@rich o brien said: 2019 to 2023 you will see some notable differences. The only remarkable ones being, from my POV, the (way) faster/more robust outliner in 2020 and the improved skp format in 2021.
