Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

im pretty sure I purged all the unused (could of missed something though) - I did the model info purge and also used thom Thoms plugin to ease a little more out texture wise I used those preloaded on sketchup and a few from https://www.sketchuptextureclub.com (I did rotate a few textures as they looked a little odd in their current position - I don't know if that of made a difference) I don't know what the average persons model size is - I never thought that a 16mb sketchup file was considered to be large but obviously I'm very wrong (though I would of thought that the mobile viewer would of been able to handle at least 20mb models well - I hope Trimble will release a version in the future that will be able to do so. Thank you Dave, that is terribly kind of you - did you private message me details ? - I'll check now

SketchUp is not loading the shipped materials from AppData. It would be best to add new collections to favorites rather than trying to replace the shipped materials. If you do replace the shipped materials with your own and you have any reason to uninstall SketchUp or if you install a maintenance release, you'll lose your materials and the shipped ones will be put back in their place. It's better to make a directory in Documents or some other non-program directory for your materials. Then, those materials don't get touched in the event of a reinstall or upgrade. And you can use the same location for each version of SketchUp you might be running. When you upgrade to SU2018, you can pick the same directory for materials.

As of right now, I am not sure there is a very good solution. I spoke with Bryce directly and he told me, "It seems that something is going on with how terrain data is served and how the resolution of the grid is determined. We're going to try to make some improvements but I don't know when you'll see them." Thats the best they can offer right now.

I agree with Pixero on this one. This is the best workflow. I have been doing the same for years on many projects. Also, when your client sends an updated Revit export, you can just use the method above and then use ThomThoms replace material from the old model to the new model. The entire process is very quick. The one caveat with working with Revit imports is that I always find that SketchUp tends to run very weighed down, so try to replace as much Revit garbage as you can such as railings, fixtures, furniture, etc. with SU components that are clean. Jut yesterday I imported a model with terrible columns that had millions a tiny little triangles. They were so heavy and the 10 min it took to swap them out was well worth it.

I've always wanted SU to have a native select untextured faces. I'm surprised it has never been added.

You have to update your scenes. If a section plane is visble when you create a scene it will remain visible in that seen even if you hide the section plane. You need to hide it and then update the scene.

If the size of the pattern fits within the printable margins of the paper, it is possible to get it printed on a single sheet. You need to adjust the proportions of the drawing window to be close to the printable area of the paper and then use Parallel Projection, a standard view showing the pattern and Zoom Extents to fill the drawing space with the model. Have a look at the video here.

I've never seen anything like that. When I need to do this sort of thing, I generally do it with Offset and other tools. Too often I find there are places that require more knowledge and decision making than could be included in a script. There is an old G-code extension that draws tool paths that could be used to get you started with a template but Offset doesn't require all the data input.

Ok, Gang, Re-Verified - Icon size large option was checked. I deleted all older extensions, and moved all the newest ones to the proper User....Plugin folder where they should have been all along. Then installed them through the Sketchup extension manager Then I located where all the extension toolbar icons are that are coming in as too small. As mentioned there are a 12x and a 24x png image in each reference folders Here's what the GUESSING BEGINS? (Please let me whats wrong!!!!, probably everything!!!) Im guessing the 12x is linked to the Sketchup small Icon choice and the 24x to the large icon check box? As I dont want to mess with the creators code... I took a 24x icon did a (Save-As) and made a 48x icon in Photoshop. -Because it is more "blurry" I cleaned and sharpened it than saved it into the location of the developers 12x and 24x location. -I am guessing in the code it links to whatever the 12x image is to the small icon choices -And if you check the large icon "box" it grabs and uses the 24x -So since I have limited knowledge, to link the new 48x icon is out of my abilities....but -A can do a (Save-As) of the 24x icon and save it as (24xoriginal) so the paths will ignore it,(And I can put it back if it doesn't work). -Then rename the 48x image as 24x, so setup pathways will pick this 200% larger image. ????? How crazy is this way of thinking? If this does work, am I really screwing up things up? Thanks, Matte

Thanks for this reply. I will have to play about with proxies in my next model. It's not something I've done before. I've tended to go the route so far of having complex plants, etc. on a layer I open only when looking at or rendering a particular scene. I am no expert, so I'm unsure if that keeps the SU model as light and maneuverable, (with the layer(s) switched off) as having proxies in place. @hornoxx said: Hi Gary and Pixero I´m using Shaderlight as my main render tool but unfortunately it is not able to handle Skatter files so far. I hope that this will change, sometime As long, as Pixero´s DIY Hedges are finished SU files which no longer need any connection to Skatter itself in the background, Shaderlight will be able to render these. Shaderlight's "Replace Me Creator" works fine which makes it possible at least to replace complex geometry by lightweight proxy geometry within SketchUp as seen in this linked example http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40%26amp;t=67665#p620146 Anyway you will probably have to adjust the used textures within Shaderlight´s material presets, so that these present the desired render result. @ Pixero: if possible Gary and I could make a little Shaderlight testing using a small sample file from you? Best
