RGB Snapping Disappears?

I have seen this happen a couple of times on various models and have never been able to pin point what does it. It usually happens on complex models with a lot of components imported from various sources (FormFonts, Warehouse, etc.) At some point in the later stages of modeling I lose my Red Green Blue plane snapping. No matter what I try it does 'see' those axis anymore.

I get it too. Utiler shared a model a few months back that exhibited the same behaviour.
I think the newer inferencing introduced has caused issues as model complexity grows.
I use Fredo's DrawAlong and MoveAlong to work around it.

I've had it too from time to time.
My thought was it could have something to do with the latest versions high resolution screen support? -
