BlenderGIS can get you pretty good images.. you do need an API key to get set up but it's all free and you can even generate 3d geometry based on the elevations in the satellite images.. it tiles in blender so you the more you zoom the better the image quality to a point.

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

Hello! What does the maxscript actually? You can turn the textures visibility on in the viewport with the max menu but it doesn't interfere with the export does it? In any case you need to convert the vray/corona/mr/revit materials to standard before exporting to obj/fbx within 3dsmax. With 3dsmax 2017-2018 you have a scene converter inside max, which is useful to convert any material to standard. BUT as usual sometimes you need to switch to manual pilot as lots of things like fallof, blend, color correction, 2-sided, mix and other things aren't easily translatable to standard shader. I use fbx to export to SU (and import with Fluid Importer Pro) but obj works nice too.

I think what @pace514 means is that when he records a wall in 3D with the disto, it turns out not to be truly vertical, maybe only by a few mm's, hence he can't push/pull the resulting face. It's probably quicker to survey in 2D. If measuring a series of internal rooms, why not survey in plan format...measure the lengths of the walls corner to corner, all the ground floor will be at, say 0.00m level, push/pull the walls up 2.40m say to get the to the ceiling, push/pull the doors & window openings, then group the walls. Allow for the floor thickness and do the same on the upper floors. I know you are not using the Leica DISTO S910 to its full potential but in the case of a home survey, with no commercial benefit, it's safe to assume the walls and corners are vertical and 90°. Move from room to room and take a few diagonal check measurements, a few through open doors to distant walls, do the fine detailing at the end when you are happy with the overall shape. Don't forget to check the wall thickness's as you go, at window/door openings, the structural walls may be thicker and walls upstairs may be thinner as they ate not supporting as much weight. The Disto will be very handy when measuring inaccessible points, roof pitch/height/angle etc. have a look at the video below for working in 3D mode... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nX8AVHZY464

I know this is a bit of an old post, but we at Twilight Render wanted to let you know that after a lot of hard work we are bringing satellite and terrain back to SketchUp Make through Twilight Render Pro and the Terrain Tools AddOn package. We've posted more about it here https://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=80%26amp;t=68220 or you can visit our website announcement here: https://www.twilightrender.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=10%26amp;t=5861 We hope this provides a useful workflow for all SketchUp users who have been missing their terrain since May!

@baz said: Tig's Split Tools/SplitDonut should do it for you. Yeah, it's a big help, this plugin. Thanks! EDIT: Forgot to mention, it doesn't work for circles (as specified, but I believe it would be a nice feature to include circles too). Luckily there's other plugin I'm using for triangulating circles - FaceSplit

@pilou said: hello Chipp! I have not but someones say that is the best! Minute 8.47 to the end! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdnHP7xxWXs Hi Frenchy, I have a Space Mouse on my desk and I use it some, but it keeps my left hand off the keyboard I think I'm happier (faster) with it on the keyboard. It is great for 'fine tuning' a scene though. Something which I can't do easily in KeyShot, so sometimes I create the camera view in SU and export to KS.

@tig said: Normally the shipped Components subfolder [and Materials and Styles too] in the Program Files path is reserved for SketchUp's shipped files only. Permissions are limited and the intention is that you set up your own subfolders for these file types in your own USER path. Typically these might be like this... C:\Users\USER\Documents\SketchUp\Components ... Materials ... Styles etc Useful for sharing across multiple versions. Alternatively consider using the USER's defaults... C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp 2017\SketchUp\Components etc This is where the USER's Plugins folder lives etc, version by version... Also the USER's Templates and Classifications are in there too... The AppData folder's path is hidden by default, but changing Windows Explorer > Folder Options lets you see it... Thank you . Now I am able to access them quickly.

Thanks Fredo, I think if you would like to improve something in plugin, maybe is to allow change diameter of round corner when two lines (maybe selcted) will be approaching each other. But use round corener to construction for quad faces method is also atractive. Unfortunately I heard yesterday about quadfaces, and my knawledge about this method is... hmm poor

LumenRT was bought by Bentley about a year ago. And, unfortunately, they changed the pricing - not only did they jack the price up, but sell it on a subscription-only basis (under eon, it was like SU - you bought it once, and as long as you paid the modest maintenance fee each year, subsequent versions and updates were free). Now it is too expensive for my modest means; I'll stick with the old eon software version for now. If I were choosing between the two today (or if I ever get a really huge bonus or win a lottery) I would choose Lumion - for the money, you get more bang for your buck, IMHO.

In addition to the other fixes... This oldie script [by me] lets you batch reset a selection of arcs/circles' segmentation: again, that's provided that they are '2d'... https://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=ArcCurve_set_segments

@SWills Thanks for the log. RoundPushPull is not really designed for this type of surface. It is more for boxy shapes. You should use JointPushPull instead, if it is just to thicken the surface. Fredo
