@thomthom said: If you should come across such a model again send it to me so I can inspect it. Something that cleanup tears apart? Sure. Doubtful that it will be anytime soon, as cleanup seems to be doing fine for the last few months. Once again, thanks for all the hard work, and generosity. Cathryn PS: I will send you a beer once it gets done rendering...

component comparison and matt666's component/groups plugin should do the trick without altering component axes. see my previous post on converting xfrog leaves: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=30143&hilit=component+comparison&start=15 @unknownuser said: the [xfrog] leaves are identical geometry - just a simple rectangle. at least with the models i have. i converted the leaves of a young birch to identical components with matt666's component/groups plugin: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?t=17590 it is quite slow, the plugin and the process - took me several hours: select 200-300 leaves at a time, select faces only with thomthom's selection tools, use matt666's plug to convert entities to components, and then run component comp to make them all the same. don't explode the leaf groups until you've converted them all to components, then it takes only seconds.

there are hundreds of the social bookmarking sites... some are just more successful than others while others are taken over by groups of people who guide the link ranking to their liking. http://www.squidoo.com/socialbookmarkingsites

Are you using this link: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?t=13563 or this one: http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=13563 I believe the first link should work. The second is an old url we changed a year and a half ago. Still points to the same post just it shows as if you were not logged in. If using the first link and still having issues, delete all sketchucation related cookies from your browser (hopefully you are not using IE as it is a pain there).

@tig said: A simple 90 re-rotation fixes it if it's a horizontal alignment of 'grain' Even that set would not be so likely needed as the user would understand - pick the opposite edge for the align!

Answered my own question. When drawing the lines I was in plan view which made my picks come from the top of the existing walls. So I ended up using a negative value for the wall height, which worked fine to create the wall, but apparently it screws up the opening operation. Thanks, Rick

Yea - and the ToolObserver doesn't give the name of the Ruby tool in use. (AFAIK) I think most plugins doesn't use a tool - which is why I think you have to hook into the menu and toolbar commands. (I could be wrong. Maybe there is a way...)

@krisidious said: can you work on a group in a group? because I was inside a group working on a group from the outside. It should work. My point on the toplevel geometry (which is a known problem) was becquse in the picture you posted it seems to me that the selection was not enclosed in a group. Fredo

I don't see being able to model with it, but it sure is cool for communicating, and the os has great potential. No apps for Google Earth or SketchUp for Chrome os that I have see yet, but if I do, and I have certainly started asking questions along those lines, I'll post it here if anything comes up.

As my Father inlaw would say "I got 'er boys". I went back to winzip and noticed the check boxes for "use folder names" and overwrite older files. There were no folders showing so I didn't have them checked. Well that's what I get for NOT thinking...It works perfectly now. THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP!!!!!!!!! I'm sure you will hear from me again as I just started using Sketchup a few days ago. MERRY CHRISTMAS FOLKS!! Rick

@unknownuser said: Hi, @georglorenz: try the script I have attached and see if it works better. Regards That worked! Thank you Didier! Here is what I understand you did to the syntax: model.start_operation "randomflipc" changed to: model.start_operation("randomflipc") results = UI.inputbox prompts, defaults, "Random Scale Parameters" changed to: results = UI.inputbox(prompts, defaults, "Random Scale Parameters") UI.menu("Plugins").add_item("gxl random flip"){gxl_randomflipc} changed to: UI.menu("Plugins").add_item("gxl random flip"){ gxl_randomflipc } Is there a general guide or forum discussion for sketchup 8 syntax that would help me avoid these pitfalls in the future? Thank you again /g
