Perfect! That“s the one I was looking for. It was referred to as "Surface Tools" in the beginning of the book I am reading. Further back it says Tools on Surface... Thanks!

@krisidious said: Plugin Request? Copy Along Path with Orientation I have tried the current copy along a path plugins (the 1001bit pro & power bar)neither seem to hold orientationand what's more require a continuous line. %(#008000)[I would like to use this for copying symbols like electrical outlets and such among other things. (image)...is it possible to do this already?] I haven't used the plugin mentioned but... 'Face Me' components keep their orientation in copy operations, although related to your view/screen. (try rotate/copy array) %(#008000)[Use a dummy 'Face Me' component to 'copy along path' or whatever copy plugin/workflow you think suites you best. Next select them all and replace with 'NON-face me' symbol component of your choice. They now have the same orientation.(*) (*) you may need to orbit/tweak your view to get the dummy aligned correct in your model. A preset little dummy face that you can select and 'Align View' to helps you to do so in a split second. It's all just a few steps extra.] Although a choice to keep orientation in a plugin is usefull, no doubt.

Also Jim's Model Location plugin. [image: ss.jpg] It's an ancient one from the time when adding manual location was not possible in the free version of SU. Time to dust it off?

Due to update in the Ruby engine in SU8 some syntax errors that was ignored in SU7 now throws an error in SU8. Check with the author of the plugin if there is an update available.

SketchUp is somewhat an odd out out when it comes to backfaces. Most other 3d modelling apps doesn't even display backfaces - if you look from the backside it'd be transparent. Unless you explicitly told it to display backfaces. Id' not say it's good modelling technique to keep backface with no material, but it is good practice to keep control over frontface and backface orientation and keep them consistent - making sure the frontfaces are the ones visible. When you have consistent and regular normals you have a more predictable mesh which makes modelling tools act more reliably. There aren't that many functions in native SU where this matters, but there is some. And plugins and extensions - in particular render engines cares much more about this. Some doesn't use SU's backface materials, some do. VfSU for instance do that by default. But you will find odd things happen when you try to displace a mesh if you have faces flipped this way and that - as the displacement height is dictated by the face normal.

@razer said: Hey guys Im trying to find a plugin that will let me Snap my components together by edge face or vertex, Using shift+alt is a pain snapping to wrong faces and stuff. Thanks Don't forget the move tools capability to move to absolute or relative coordinates based on key board inputs. I use it most often for moving to origin by inputting [0,0,0]

Yes, that is what I'm using now even without a spreadsheet - generate report is doing this. But i have a lot of attributes and they differ - so it is hard to find what is needed.
