@dave r said: Do you even need layers, then? Could you just name the groups and be done with it? I have thought of that but havent had a chance to test it yet.But layers do help by being able to turn them off and on as needed especialy when working with alot of groups/layrs. for example a 6 light glass door would have 14 layers total.

@driven said: I don't understand what super is... or where it comes from... super is a Ruby keyword that acts similar to a method, but has a quirk. super calls the same method in the ancestor PASSING UP the parameters that the child method received. super() calls the same method in the ancestor BUT PASSES AN EMPTY parameter list. super(arg1, arg2, ...) calls the same method in the ancestor BUT PASSES ONLY the parameters listed. ~

I suppose you could use a dialog to set up a pattern like /^Glass-blue/ For material name that starts with 'Glass-blue'. Or /[Gg]lass/ for any material name containing the text 'Glass' or 'glass' etc etc... You can eval the pattern string in a gsub() on each materials name... Then you can iterate through the Model's Materials and find all of the ones with 'matching names' as an array. Then you can apply a Name+R+G+B+A[+texture+size] which is initially read from the first match in the array... and offered for 'adjustment' in a second dialog... On OK all of the matches are 'consolidated to 'Name' using the set R/G/B/A..values etc and the rest of the matching materials are replaced with 'Name' and then 'purged'...

@jim said: @jackhab said: Is there a plugin to view the undo history in a list? No there isn't, but it's a good thought. SketchUp's transactions are sequential - you couldn't Undo an action out of order, if that is what you have in mind. But it is possible to write an Undo List plugin which would work exactly like using the Undo/Redo buttons do already; except with a list. I'm OK with inability to undo out of order but I find myself clicking the menu instead of hitting Ctrl-Z just because I need to see what exactly I am about to undo. A simple list of actions would be great help.

After running a search on compatibility files I read one of the older threads, http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=17947&p=203864&hilit=Compatibility+files#p203864 that mentioned that the Smustard Organizer plugin caused errors similar to the ones I was having with LibFredo6 instead of the compatibility files system being the perpetrator. I tested this theory by changing the file extensions of Organizer.rb, SmustardOrganizerExcludeFolders.txt, and restarted SketchUp 3 times without an error message. It doesn't make sense that all the other plugins loaded without a problem. The last plugin I installed, LibFredo6 caused error messages, but first plugin installed, Organizer caused the problem. Another thing that doesn't make sense is the compatibility files system. When I deleted the organizerEdit.log from the virtualstore directory, the compatibility files button on the explorer window dissappered, but I didn't delete the defparms folder (contained no files) and the twilight folder (only contained the twilight license). Why would the compatbility files button dissapear even though not all of the content has been deleted?

@thomthom said: If you should come across such a model again send it to me so I can inspect it. Something that cleanup tears apart? Sure. Doubtful that it will be anytime soon, as cleanup seems to be doing fine for the last few months. Once again, thanks for all the hard work, and generosity. Cathryn PS: I will send you a beer once it gets done rendering...

component comparison and matt666's component/groups plugin should do the trick without altering component axes. see my previous post on converting xfrog leaves: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=30143&hilit=component+comparison&start=15 @unknownuser said: the [xfrog] leaves are identical geometry - just a simple rectangle. at least with the models i have. i converted the leaves of a young birch to identical components with matt666's component/groups plugin: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?t=17590 it is quite slow, the plugin and the process - took me several hours: select 200-300 leaves at a time, select faces only with thomthom's selection tools, use matt666's plug to convert entities to components, and then run component comp to make them all the same. don't explode the leaf groups until you've converted them all to components, then it takes only seconds.

there are hundreds of the social bookmarking sites... some are just more successful than others while others are taken over by groups of people who guide the link ranking to their liking. http://www.squidoo.com/socialbookmarkingsites

Are you using this link: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?t=13563 or this one: http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=13563 I believe the first link should work. The second is an old url we changed a year and a half ago. Still points to the same post just it shows as if you were not logged in. If using the first link and still having issues, delete all sketchucation related cookies from your browser (hopefully you are not using IE as it is a pain there).

I tried with a much simpler terrain and it works perfectly. Something must be wrong with my terrain. Thanks for all. Weather: Jingle bells, jingle bells... what a christmas mood. Bonnes fêtes
