FYI SketchUp 2014 Ruby v 2.0.0 - patchlevel 247 win32ole.so file is included Win32API.rb file is included, which is a wrapper into the newer DL library, but allows the older WIn32API style calls. %(#BF4000)[Do not copy these files from older Ruby versions into SketchUp's "Plugins" folder, (or any of SketchUp's folders,) for versions 14 or higher !]

@cotty said: For this you can use the shortcuts "l" (=line) and "a" (=arc) without the need for a plugin. edit: you can find an overview of the standard shortcuts here: http://dl.trimble.com/sketchup/2013/en/sketchup2013refcardwin.pdf I already have both on a shortcut. What i basically wanted was something i can program 2 commands into one shortcut. It sounds stupid i know, but it would be really useful for me. For Example: You have the letter X as a shortcut. With that you can put in circle and rectangle in it, so by pressing it once.. it will be circle, pressing it again its rectangle, pressing it again.. its back to circle. Call me lazy, but i don't work with toolbars, everything has a shortcut, and 99% of my work is speed-modeling.

So you have a 3d site model. Then you are going to flatten it? Then what? Thanks!

Ok. I did not see, or pay attention, that this script addressed vertices and not faces. I figured if you select a face, the vertices were understood. Keep in mind that I was throwing Groups. It just so happened that I did have an exploded group in one of my attempts and one face of that was selected. That volume was "extruded" or flattened as I repeated the vector clicks randomly. I was simply watching the behavior. Thanks for your attention to this. By the way, this script wouldn't have any issues with other plugins that may use a projection method(?), would it? Such as perhaps Didier Bur's Projections, or Fredo's Joint Push Pull by Vector?

Could user add gap on the material sides. Instead of making the texture seamless, user can insert/add gap (space)

It differs in that you first predefine a line around your object for site grader to adjust the terrain to (oh and the line doesn't have to be on the same plane), and then you set/adjust the grader width; in the image above I tried several widths until I was happy with 4metres. The stamp tool by comparison (while it has it's uses) is a very blunt instrument.

If it's not in the folder, look in the original installation set, and reinstall from scratch. BUT firstly also check that the new computer has FULL permissions set to the Plugins folder - Windows might have prevents some files being auto-installed, you need FULL permissions... See here... http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=508319#p508319 You can also get that .so file from SCF... http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=380121#p380121 Make sure you use the right one. Since you choose not to share your OS/version with use, please read the notes about usage and which version of the .so is needed for which Ruby etc...

@tspco said: I have done a successful animation video using the spin view option, because it actually creates 400 DIFFERENT images, the spin object creates 400 copies of the SAME identical image In spin view, the "camera" is moved so the scene changes and you get a "different" image in each scene. In spin object, the camera position never changes so, even though you see the object rotate, the "scene" doesn't. To get the desired results, you need to save the image to a file after each rotation step. I have updated the Spin_It plugin on my blog to give you the option of creating the image files for Spin View and Spin Object. Works best for me on SU8. For some reason, on SU2013, the view doesn't get updated between each step.

So, until then, I would also suggest to look at the 3dconnexion products. I think you would appreciate the "joy-puck".

I organize my hard drive such that each project gets its own folder. Every skp, dwg, rvt, and other drawing/model file that I produce specific to that project (along with their backups) go into that folder. Other relevant documents go into subfolders. This eliminates any confusion about what goes with what project and makes searches for project-related files easy. However, I usually have more than one project going at once. When I switch projects, I want SketchUp to look for files in, and save files to, the proper folder. Setting the "Start in" line in the shortcut should accomplish this goal. It does not. It can be done directly in SketchUp, though: just start SU, click on the "Window" drop down, click on "Preferences," click on "Files," manually change the "Models" location, click on "OK," shut SU down, and restart SU. What SketchUp does is save the Models location - along with other things - to the registry. What the batch file does is change the registry before SU starts. By using a different shortcut to the batch file for each project, one need enter the path to the model folder only once. Does that answer your question?

Thanks for your input. It seems if one open the file in "read only" mode and then save it under another name - the problem is solved? mac1, you may be right (I am not too strong in memory computer knowhow), anyway I am pretty happy, I can work again

@aerilius said: So you want to paint on the current view (ie. paint the object as you see it, rather than in unwrapped mode). Unwrapped meshes have often an unnatural shape, and what looks like a straight line on the model is not always a straight line in the uv map. That makes working with many uv-mapping tools challenging and requires to think in "uv space". Once I felt this would more fit the intuitive "SketchUp way". I have some experiments with how painting directly on the model would work. However it's rather a hackish solution and there are latency/precision problems and limitations of SketchUp's API. The procedure of editing screenshots of the current view works for faces that are faced to the viewer, but not for orthogonal faces (the texture on them would be stretched and low-resolution). I'm sure your workflow is easier to implement in an semi-automated plugin. This is also pretty cool, with different brushes and airbrushing this could be pretty powerful. Yeah some issues do arise with extreme angles, but this could be fixed by selectively choosing faces to paint on etc or by having some fading options (textures fade out on extreme angles/mix with existing ones) I unfortunately don't have the ability to create plugins etc but maybe one day... maybe.
