I haven't noticed any difference. In 2D exports arcs and curves are exported as straight polyline segments.

Actually, Sketchup Arc is recognized as Arc in AutoCAD and Curves as Polylines. But it must be something... on the way the coordinates are stored, or something about the vertices, because as I said, some of the Arc elements get mirrored about origin of the drawing when I import the DXF into that CNC software.

So...that software (NC-HOPS) is expecting something from the DXF and AutoCAD dxfs offer, but Sketchup exported DXF does not, or offer differently.

Hi, I am experiencing similar problem even after I perform a selection only. It happens when I do a region select on part of a large mesh (say 25K faces). At the moment a finish region select operation (release left mouse button) SketchUp freezes for a few seconds and comes back with the selected portion smoothed with the current smoothing option. The smoothing can even be undone. It happens in all modes of selection (+, +-, or -). Triple select or Ctrl-A typically does not suffer from this. It is so annoying...

You get "not responding" when SketchUp is doing a task which take a while to complete. It doesn't mean it has crashed - it just haven't finished yet. Sandbox Tools can take a loooong time to complete.

The creator of the DWG file should purge and audit the file and save the copy as an earlier version <=2010 - Also there are many things that might be in the DWG file that won't be imported into the SKP so these can be erased before purging etc - e.g. Text, Dimensions, Hatching etc... This will speed things up and avoid unneeded layers, blocks etc arriving with the import...

    Thomthom,
I believe that it is only hidden geometry.
I tried renaming the Plugins folder so it wouldn't load at startup.
That seems to eliminate the problem. Any suggestions on how to proceed if it's a Ruby conflict?

Quick comment: I've had a similar problem that I couldn't reproduce on other machines - turned out that my graphics card was packing a sad. Something us simple as updating your drivers might help

    ashscott,
What do you mean by "packing a sad"? I've not tried updating drivers yet. The card has been performing great so far.

    Thanks for the input.

Hmm the thickning trick seems to work. Alltough it is quite a work around and hard to fix. In my script the inner lattice can be smaller than the outer ring. Thats why I create them seperately.

I attached a SKP where you can see the procedure and another "error" I get in certain union situations. Would be great if you can shine a light on it πŸ˜„

    Classic, forgot the attachment!

    Hi Greg,

I am afraid it will be extremely difficult to achieve an output that size which resembles what you can see on screen. Sketchy edges are made up of raster images and adjust themselves to screen resolution (or what the heck). Read a very good explanation here:

Post in Sketchy Physics forum - it's their bug not Sketchup's... or PM its moderator, to tool's author...

That looks like the adapive degrading's boundingbox. I think I've seen that as well on occasions when it occurs. Doesn't seem to adhere to the Hide Rest of Model setting.

Sorry, it was not yourimage but Imageshack. It loads extremely slowly (probably also depending on geographical location) or for some, it does not load at all. Then if it loads, it gets embedded in that website where eventually it displays very small...

Anyway, best is to attach it straight here (below the text area you type your message). This also have the advantage that it will remain here (unlike images of some people who delete them from time to time on external sources).

Your tip of closing SU and reopening sounds interesting; πŸ‘ next time I'll try (I also have more than enough toolbars - in 5 rows above my SU screen).

    This is killing me...

The fact that I can right click a material, means I can't "forcefully remove" a material (and convert existing faces to default).
Well, I can actually right click, but after freezing for about 10 seconds, the context menu appears and disappears really fast before I can click... πŸ‘Š
It only seems to be a problem with "large" models.

Like brick folder, tile folder.why some of the material can be add/save and sometimes it wont? do i have to use and save it the project 1st before i quit the app? coz last nite i try to make folder for my material it can be save and when i open it now my material is there.( after i render it using the material i just added.)

Thanks for your replies. I updated my drivers to the latest and so far I'm not experiencing those jitters since. I just installed it over the old one without deleting anything.

This is a quote from the Nvidia site-
"Q: Do I need to uninstall my older driver first?
A: No. It used to be the case that an uninstall was first required. Today the recommended method is to overinstall the newer driver on top of your older driver. This will allow you to maintain any current NVIDIA Control Panel settings or profiles."

I did that and all seems well. So yeah, if I experience anything wrong, I can easily revert back.

With v8 there's a Preferences setting to allow you to preselect a face then PushPull that - useful if that face is in a recess... I can't reproduce your problem no matter what I do πŸ˜•

If it has the same name then the original version isn't overwritten by 'import'.
BUT you can 'Reload' it simply by selecting a placed instance [or it's icon in the model tab of the Component Browser] and select that right-click menu item; if it's not the the same folder as it was originally you'll have to navigate to it... A 'Reload' will then update all instances of the originally imported component with the current version in the external SKP file...
