@drafter said: When hovering over icons in Sketchup, text appears and gives a brief description of its purpose. However, in MSPhysics the pop-up text is helpful, but is TOO brief. A box of text with lots of words and little time to read it. I had exactly the same problem. Luckily, this issue has been addressed. You need to upgrade to MSPhysics version 0.9.8 (13-Nov-16). There are certain other improvements in the UI in this version.

@Rob, making a group before scaling up only to explode it once you have is a waste of time. You can select the geometry and scale it up if you want. Scale down afterward. Here's another method that I think is easier. Start by making the profile and path for the Follow Me operation at the regular size. Make a component of the lot. Copy the component (Move/Copy) and scale the copy up by a factor of 10 or 100 or something. Open the large copy for editing, run Follow Me and do whatever else you need to do. Then close the large component to exit edit mode and delete it. Return to the original component and the work is done.

By snap I mean the cursor and input point are drawn to significant points on an object, like the endpoint or midpoint, you see a colored point light up. Actually the cursor snap and indicator happens when you touch an edge anywhere, so you know you are drawing from that edge when you click down. When you draw a line out and get the colored indication of direction... I'd call that a constraint because it is showing how you can constrain the operation to a direction or another edge or face (but I think the tutorials also consider this an inference). Inference is an alignment indicated with other objects' points or direction. Are you speaking about drawing an edge along an edge which is in a group? Otherwise, you don't have to draw another line there, that edge will participate in your new face when you add the remaining edges. It is difficult to see SketchUp edges on a Retina screen. I think this has been improved in 2017 version. Try other screen resolutions. I use a MBP but I don't often use the laptop screen itself for SketchUp. More difficult to see snap indicators too. Zooming may not help. It shouldn't be hard to work off an existing edge. Are you working with a lot of edges off-axis? Sometimes SU forces the axis alignment if it is close to what you are drawing. Are you drawing from or using imported edges, as from AutoCAD? This sometimes introduces edges that are not quite right though they appear to be aligned.

@vangogh said: No, not so. However, you can see by my addendum to my original post that I solved the problem quite satisfactorily. Now to improve on this, it is just a matter of paying attention to color in SK and KT. And doing it much more carefully, of course. I don't see an addendum to nor a screenshot in your original post. See my screen shot. [image: w8RW_Screenshot-11_22_20166_28_37PM.png] But you seem to have it sorted out now. [image: K80o_Screenshot-11_22_20166_32_08PM.png]

SketchUp's tolerance is 1/1000". If two points are closer than that, then they are deemed to be coincident, and the tiny edge that those points might have defined is not made. Because faces need a loop of edges this means that tiny faces can be missed out if a tiny edge is skipped. You geometry looks 'on the edge'. I suspect that the tiny facets needed to get the tight bend are what's causing the problem. I suggest you do it this way... Make your object say 10 or 100 times bigger, it'll probably form OK. Then you can Scale it back down to the size you want. The tiny geometry can exist, BUT it cannot be created at a minuscule size. Another trick is to start off with the profile and path edges inside a component. Make a copy of that component instance and scale that copy up by a factor [even 1000 !], then edit the big-instance, and do the followme. Because the followme operation is then being done on the enlarged version the tolerance limit is sidestepped. Exit the edit and erase the big-version. The original size version will have been changed to match - with its tiny geometry intact... If you need to redo anything to this tiny thing remember to once again scale up a copy etc - the tolerance issue might trip you up again otherwise...

Hi, I cant seem to get the correct name to appear on my components area. Sometimes they show a skp-name which I have not asked for, sometimes they show the name I have given. But Actually all the components I have changed the name. Also how to change by Unknown to that I want it to say? Thanks [image: e2yv_screenshot.JPG]

@laggingbehind said: I guess the reason I wanted to go down the Schema route is because if I have a drawing with 30 components I thought it would be easier than creating the attributes each time....however I stand to be corrected if I'm wrong That sounds about right if you don't need reporting directly in SketchUp. I don't know if there are extensions that provide Classification reporting for SketchUp - there is no reason there couldn't be one similar to "Generate Report" only for Classifications.

Yes, I can do that. I have also oversized the dimension font so that the print is more suitable. However for the last 3 years before my update this was not an issue. Trying to determine if it is an issue with Sketchup or a setting in Sketchup. I have another PC that I didn't update (and it prints fine) So frustrating! I wish that I could take this PC back to Version 8. I do appreciate your efforts, Thank you!

@dave r said: You can place the camera with Position Camera from the Camera toolbar or menu And you can aim the camera with Orbit and Pan. From the Ruby documentation I now have a working script for exactly what I want to do: ` eye = [0,-10000,0] target = [0,0,0] up = [0,0,1] my_camera = Sketchup::Camera.new eye, target, up my_camera.focal_length = 100 view = Sketchup.active_model.active_view view.camera = my_camera` Is there really no plug-in with some tiny UI that lets me do this kind of stuff?

In MSPhysics, you can use joybutton(button) and joypad functions. See http://www.rubydoc.info/github/AntonSynytsia/MSPhysics/MSPhysics/CommonContext#joybutton-instance_method
