It should be a 30-day trial of SU2017 Pro, not 4 months. After the trial ends, it will revert to SketchUp Make assuming you have downloaded and installed the correct version.

I do not completely follow what you are saying. When you say: "you must have 'Materials' folders for both yours and SU's" are you saying that I must name the folder on my PC "Materials" and then point SU to look at that folder for materials? I have tried changing the folder with my files to both "Materials" and "My_Materials". I have subfolders named uniquely and the same ("Stone" and "My_Stone"). In all cases nothing shows up inside SU. If I copy a folder of materials to AppData>Roaming>Sketchup>Sketchup 2017> Sketchup > MAterials then it will show up at the bottom of the list in the materials browser. As far as I can tell changing the folder locations in SU via windw > preferences > Files > materials as no effect. I'm sure I'm missing something which is kind of driving me nuts. I don't know why I am really even trying to get this to work anymore, certainly isn't seeming all that convenient. My goal is for sketchup to forget about what comes stock with the program and use the materials and subfolders of my choice. I suppose I will just go back to the way I have been doing it which is to change the structure in the OS files.

You could also take a look at Indigo which can be used free for non-commercial work, renders are then limited to 0.7MP and has the Indigo watermark.

@maxvector9 said: I'm using SU 2017, and my toolbars are not saving after restarting Sketchup. Is there a reason that this problem is occurring, and is there are workaround? There's always a reason for everything. You don't give any information about your computer or its operating system so a fix is difficult to offer. Maybe a reinstall is in order. You don't need a workaround. The toolbars should stay in place on their own. It's an incredibly rare thing to have toolbars moving on their own since SU2013 so there's something about your system that needs sorting.

Yes it's a good habit to manage your textures when you have thousand of them!

It does on a per plugin level and that info is not exposed anywhere other than to manage the bundles. Even the dashboard for authors doesn't list it which is where you think it would be of value. I know Gabor added it for the API so authors could query from within their code but we don't collate to see who's using what on what version. Fredo is probably the most active in utilizing the API in his tools.

sorry I wasn't clear... what I was suggesting is you save the base geometry as a new separate component... in the topo model it will still have layers, but not in the component... you would need two components if water and land are separate entities... if you upload a simple example we would understand your goal better... john

I tried to id the 2016 scripts via Sketchucation Extension Manager but it wouldn't recognise them. I remembered one may have been Smustard and other perhaps J. Dolabany so I downloaded each of those. I recall one suited me better than the other. Both are .rb files. I'm not clear about you last question. Couldn't I clear out and start again with your guidance?:)

Here's one way, with Thru paint. you need to add divisions to the face-- SketchUp texture will not know one flat surface shape from another. http://sketchucation.com/resources/tutorials/intermediate/1764-arch-texturing-in-sketchup-with-thrupaint Try making the arcs to have more segments. Maybe about the length of the pavers. Use split sausage plugin to divide the face up.

Let me edit the post for simplicity. I went through many steps trying to figure out what was going on, but here's the final way I fixed it. There was no problem at the arch top. The problem is where the two sashes meet. they meet on a single edge, one edge has four faces. To fix I push-pulled the bottom of the top sash down slightly (in reality sashes lap more than that. I erased the face to look inside, selected the new face between the sashes plus the edges (double click), group and delete (be sure any left over edges are gone). Then draw an edge to bring back the top sash bottom face. Couple comments: Sashes overlap for the most part, you see one lock rail primarily, not both rails. Muntins are usually not as thick as the sash, they're recessed from the face, both sides. Vinyl windows may not have much recess. Sorry for the size of the picture, only good shot I could find. Something like this [image: cfgY_GIF_simple.gif] 2 Curves on the same plane Draw a big vertical Line Copy Move with /x x = number of thing that you want Intersection Select Only Straight edges (Plugin) Invert selection Erase and make like shown above with Projections by Didier BUR and Add Faces by Tig
