Do you have a lot of similar components in your model? While I am able to open and orbit much larger models, I have a problem with one small 8Mb. model. It contains (among other things) about 190 components (a pine tree), each uniquely rotated and scaled, Each instance contains sub components (3,000 in the model) also scaled. each of the 3,000 instances contains 180 entities, including textures. The model orbits with difficulty, and fails to render. Attached is a SU export of the model.[image: VUVE_Temp00.png]

You can go here for Sketchup v7, but I think (like the v8 trail) it is also a trail version that reverts to "V7 free" after 30 days.

Use a PNG format with a transparent background - it will work... You must ensure that it has a proper transparent background before importing it [==checker-pattern]

I use soapskin & bubble to make raised beds all the time. It works great for complicated curvy bed shapes. http://www.tensile-structures.de/sb_software.html

I believe what you may want is ThomThom's Edge Tools. At the top of this page see the red button to the Plugins Index. Look for the set under ThomThom, click on the name and the topic will come up. The first post explains, describes the usage. I believe this is a free one. "Vertex Tools" however, I believe is commercial.

you have a few choices to make the actual view. set the plate-line and below as a group and hide the roof, then use the parallel view and the top view. you can use the section view to cut a downward direction section and then use the parallel view and top view. by using the section view method you'll have the option of cutting the sections through windows and doors and thus showing the detail of openings.

I think there used to be a sketchup model importer for CS3 or 4. I'm not sure if it is still being supported though.

No really need to re-import. Since SU 7.1 (I think - but maybe 7.0), when you save the file in PS (IF you edited the way I described), it will reload instantly.

@neostyles said: It's a little hard to get sketchup to make the other circle standing up. What Gai shows works but I don't even do that. I just orbited the camera to a low viewpoint and, in the example, looking mostly down the green axis. Then SketchUp is happy to draw the circle standing up.

I do not think it would work well with an interior shot as background and furniture (especially kitchen - on and near the walls). You would only have a single viewport where it looks realistic perspectively. Now try to find that point without seeing the background in a renderer (surely there are some with interactive rendering options). Otherwise it is just eyeballing - or you make a PhotoMatch scene in SU - but that's again, only or a single viewport.

@gaieus said: %(#0000FF)[.....When you are proficient enough (but only then ), look at the FredoScale plugin, too. ]As for dividing edges; this method does not only work on straight lined but also on curves (circles, polygons, arcs...) as long as SU recognises them as such ........ +1. Learn how to use the basic SU tools before using plugins. Except for some, like 'Weld'. Most of the plugins are great (time savers / worth a million) but you better just learn SU first. Be aware that (through context menu) SU divides arcs, polygons and circles as expected, however.... the result can easily cause a bug splat. SU has a bug here for sure. Divide and next try to alter the number of segments of one selected part in 'Entity Info'. The segment field is open (white) for changes but will definitly cause SU to come to an end. Dividing edges is okay.
