@bartgragg said: So you are THAT Dave! Awesome! You say that like it's a good thing. @bartgragg said: Thanks for the link. It made all the difference. It made me re-think my organization and use of materials and so I have begun to create a "plywood" collection of 48 x 96 sheets and now I have no issues with weird lines. As a bonus it finally sunk in the difference between applying materials and paint. Thank you for the time and patience. I'm glad it helped.

@mitcorb said: You may be aware that another Trimble owned company/software is Tekla Structures, which I think is a BIM application. Perhaps Trimble plans to integrate the Sketchup modeling process into this application in some way? I was not aware of that, but you can certain that I soon will be much more familiar with it

In v-ray materials under diffuse just click on "Use color texture as transparency" and click preview of material. It should be transparent now if u are using png.

according to this link, this problem is usually caused by outdated versions of the Visual C Runtime libraries. The link refers to a similar problem with IE 8, so it has nothing to do with SU Podium. However, the link might be interestingm to you, as long as you havn't read it already. (Its the first one that pops up when you google the error message

Well thanks Dave R for the time you spent helping me with this. Of course I had to change the model you worked on and ended up with more holes. Which Solid Inspectorshowed me but I was not able to manually make the repairs. So I purchased the SuSolid Plugin. Wow what a tool that is, it works so well. I keep trying to understand SketchUp and work these problems out but so far, for my two biggest ones using a Plugin was my answer. Well thanks again Dave and I am definitely using the things you showed me. Ralph

Well I played around with the model for a couple of days trying to manually do the chanfers with mixed success. So thought I'd try the Fredo6 Round Corner Plugin. I had a heck of a time getting that to work but eventually I managed and now it is working great. So once again thanks every one for the help. Ralph

@nickchun said: Twilight and Thea were developed from Kerkythea (which is free, but takes longer to learn) Materials from Kerkythea can be used in Twilight, so you can develop your own materials in Kerkythea and use them in Twilight. Twilight is well worth the money but if you are really strapped for cash try Kerkythea first. Twilight uses the render engine from Kerkythea, but Thea render has different core and material system (even the developer is same as with Kerkythea). Thea can import Kerkythea scenes, but it does a one way conversion. About twilight renderfarm, there is one beta (that actually is Thea based and uses Kerkythea to Thea conversion) at http://renderact.com/. Possible other Thea render farms may accept Kerkythea XML scenes http://www.thearender.com/cms/index.php/resources/render-farms.html

To process a faces to a 2d or to a 3d model Copy and then flatten one 3d model to a 2d model with scale tool draw rectangle on back plain, useing the move tool, move the left corner, by left click and hold buttom of mouse while dragging the rectangle to front plain, above the flatten 3d high spot. Then turn on xray and make a face to 2d model. Now return face to 3d model with push-pull and paste in place 3d model or vector push-pull witch tranfer flatten 3d detail to 2d model. Right click and used context intersect face to model Cut off ends of the pull face or the 2d rectangle edges. delete 3d flatten model Answer You now made a 2d face or a 3d face suface via 1-6 Now for terrain lines, Answer: draw rectangle on ground plain, use move tool to front left corner, left click hold buttom of mouse while pressing the control key. Now drag the rectangle to top plain. type in the indext input box type /20 enter right click and used context intersect face to model Cut the 2d rectangle plains edges.

Thanks "Box" I went in and looked but did not find anything. however there was a group of guides that i had that had a ridiculously large bounding box around them nested withing the group I was in. i just moved the group of guides, then started a new group of the objects i was resizing -- now the bounding box is where it should be thanks!!!
