Three weeks ago I upgraded to a Ryzen 7 3700X on a Gigabyte X570 Aorus PRO.
Really happy with the speed. A few things though;
its new. The X570 bios is still in its infancy so still issues to be solved by AMD and the mobo manufacturers.
Edit: for instance XMP enabled can cause BSOD - I only see that when building UE from source in VisualStudio. For the rest the system is stable all the time with XMP enabled.
boot times for some reason are very long on the x570 platform. Almost a minute (even with fast PCI-e M2). Also, the x570 chipset has active cooling on most mobo's
apparently the Ryzen 7 3000 series behave more like a GPU where they reach (and maintain) top performance only when the temps are low (if there's enough cooling) and throttle down speed when the temps get too high.
the Ryzen 7 3000 series cpu's temp go up&down 45-65-45 degrees every second even when just browsing. I have a Noctua fan on the cpu and 3 more in the case but they just can't keep up with the temperature spikes (just like any other fan / cooling solution I expect). Fan noise going up&down was really annoying until a custom profile was set in the bios where the fans are at 60% speed from 0 to 75 degrees (barely audible) and ramp up to 100% when above 75c. Now I almost never hear the fans again.
finally still a few issues with lower max turbo speeds compared to what AMD's promo machine wants us to believe. In short; the turbo speed is only achieved for a few milliseconds by one core and most of the time a bit lower. The 3700X is at 4,2Ghz - 4,3 Ghz most of the time and spikes 4,4Ghz only every now and then.
Look on YouTube for 'Der Bauer Ryzen' videos for more info.
Still I'm happy with the 3700X. It crushes compile times on UnrealEngine and the machine feels very snappy.
You should create a PB3 assembly that uses one part for the posts (component) and another component-type span part for the rails. Then, try using the above-mentioned random component replacer plugin to swap the posts for randomized versions and the rail components as randomized versions.
... I can use TM 2022 and use ray tracing but only after using a patch put together by a talented TM user, not by TM itself.
That's interesting, I didn't know there was a workaround. Would it be possible for you to post a link to the patch?
Just to be clear the patch is to allow PT to work with a GTX card in versions 2022 where PT supports RTX GPU's and not gtx cards. Also I do not think it would work with 2023. I did the patch about a year ago. All I can tell you it was posted in the TM official suport forum when I get time I will see if I still have the patch in my downloads but suggest you search on the UE/TM site and have a look for it.
Now that I see what you are trying to do, it sure makes my post in you Animator thread look stupid. I do not think you could do something like this with Animator. Would like to see what your final product look like.
I have a model imported from vectorworks, it has a gazillion of the same component but they are all individual components so editing one does not edit all, I need to somehow make them all the same component, is there a plugin already that does this?
if all components are to be replaced by one unique component, you can use sketchup native tool:
introduce the unique component you want to keep in the model, if it is not already
select all the components you want to replace
open the palette to show all the components in the model (clic on the house)
right clic on the one you want to keep
clic on "replace selected components by this one..."
before
all selected components are replaced by the one you chose
after
it is not automatic, but visual check is sufficient and more accurate in some cases
I played with it a few years ago and it was good, the demo only allowed for 1 card but as I understand it you can have several so you could have a card for a site, another for the existing building and another for the proposed. You could then have the 1st 2 within view of the camera, remove the 2nd one, introduce the 3rd etc.
You only get to see the result on screen though, on the desk is only the qr code like cards and unless youβre willing to move the webcam around by hand you only have the 1 viewpoint.
