I don't really understand your question, in particular the part about "a curve remains fixed". If it remains truly fixed, it will not reach the moved edges, and if it stretches to stay connected it is not "fixed". If you are asking how to make the area larger without altering its shape, please take a look at the Scale tool. But if you are asking to have a second edge move in the y direction when you move a first edge in the x direction (ignoring the question above about the curve staying "fixed"), there is no built-in capability to do that in SketchUp. It would require an extension or perhaps a Dynamic Component to program this special behavior.

@dave r said: I finally had a chance to look at the location in Google Eart. It appears the buildings were drawn in SketchUp after all. But the link provided to the model in GE is no longer valid. since they stopped accepting SketchUp models some time ago, it would indicate the model is old. I tried searching the 3D Warehouse for the listed authors but they don't seem to have a presence there. Contact google and maybe you'll have some luck. Thanks, I will try it.

Okay, now the situation is that I found an old setup of sketchup 2016 (version 16.0.19912 - 64 bit). I installed it and it ran fine. My plugins folder was renamed as "plugins_latest". Okay so far so good. I renamed the folder back to plugins, and sketchup still started. I closed it and restarted it again. Then it crashed with the same "amd driver has crashed and recovered error" Now I renamed my plugins folder back to "plugins_latest". Now sketchup as usual created a new default plugins folder and now its running fine. I also did registry cleaning with CCleaner. I think the culprit is some plugin that crashes sketchup. What should I do now?

Unfortunately, if your GPU isn't up to the task, as it appears is the case, your CPU has to pick up the slack and work harder.

@box said: Make sure internet explorer is up to date, has a clean cache and isn't too restricted security wise. Thanks for the tip! It worked. I am using Internet explorer 11. I reset my settings to defaults for privacy and security. Now my extension store is working. I can see the lists, etc. However, this version of store works slow. That is the search and the opening of pages is slower than the previous versions. It seems as if I am using this store on a very slow internet connection which is not the case. Moreover, I have not changed anything as far as interference with my internet is concerned, i.e. my antivirus brand, firewall settings, etc. [image: z7d9_explo.png]

@john2 said: I recently upgraded my laptop ram to 8 GB . How can I make V-ray use more RAM, so as to boost the performance? I am using Windows 8.1 (64 bit) and Sketchup 2015 (64bit) It's already using the full available RAM as you're using the 64bit version. So if you want to use more RAM the only way would be to upgrade to even more RAM. However, there is something that you should be aware of... if you want to boost performance you don't need more RAM but better CPU and GPU. RAM is just there so you can open the model and work with it. If you have enough RAM for your model it will work. If you don't have RAM enough it will freeze. It's the GPU and CPU that determine your performance Boost... Having a laptop means you probably can't improve on those two and that's why I ditched my laptop in favour of a Big Tower Computer... It's a bit harder to take it to construction site, but I can do what I want with it at the office! EDIT: There's another topic about this here: http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=15%26amp;t=63958

Here is something that can drastically affect model size. I used CabMaker 3 extension and inserted 14 cabinets into the model. Most of the parts are components. I then saved the file as kitchen_1 size 6,369 K. I then opened the Component Inspector and chose In Model. It took just under 3 minutes to display all the components in the inspector. For these 14 cabinets there are a total of 745 entries in the inspector. I then save the file as kitchen_2 size 18,512 K. There were 745 thumbnails - 1 for each component. I then chose Components instead of In Model and closed the Inspector window. I then opened the first file kitchen_1. In this case I left the Component Inspector closed. I created a simple cube and turned it into a component. After about 3 minutes I regained control. I then saved the file as kitchen_3. It is 18,518 K. I opened the component Inspector, chose in Model and within a second all 746 thumbnails appear. It appears that Sketchup doesn't update the images when creating components within a script. Instead it does so after creating a component using the UI or when displaying the components in model. [image: jbh6_kitchenascomponents.png] I then installed a new version of CabMaker 3 which uses groups instead of components. I opened kitchen_2, selected all cabinets and ran the editor after which I purged. Then I opened the Component Inspector in Model which displayed a single component - the handle. I then saved the file as kitchen_4 size 3,521 K. Sketchup is also more responsive and there are no apparent wait times when creating a component using the UI. I would recommend to anyone working on very large projects to at least consider using groups - especially with nested containers that contain groups or components and no geometry. Of course there are situations where components make sense. Especially with geometry having high poly counts and where you want to make a change and have all copies change. Too bad we don't have a way to tell Sketchup not to create an entry for components in the component inspector on a component basis. [image: h14z_kitchenasgroups.png]

Not forgetting... that the file you add into the Plugins folder, must be called something like " SDM-expsel2jpg**.rb**" - in order for it to auto-load as SketchUp starts... AND also, equally importantly, it must be encoded as " UTF-8_without_BOM". On a PC - Notepad.exe will NOT do this - it will be encoded as ANSI, this will break SketchUp >v8 ! But if you have a free tool installed like Notepad++.exe - then that will either encode its as you need [depending on the app's settings], OR you can at least change the file's encoding to suit using menu items. On a Mac, TextEdit/ TextWrangler should pre-encode the file as you need...

It should show progress of the RBZ files in the status-bar. If you have the Ruby Console open are there any error-messages ? Can you do an Update or add a new Plugin using AutoInstall ? Is there anything unusual about your SketchUp set up, or user-name etc... What do you get if you try this + <enter> in the Ruby Console. SCF::PLUGINS

The adjacent 'cylinder' is in the same context and so its geometry prevents the bottom face of the box from being PushPulled - commonly this is seen when a face has conflicting geometry adjoining it. It can be overcome by selecting the cylinder's geometry and grouping it. Now the bottom face will PushPull, because there's no conflicting geometry at its edge. Afterwards, if desired, you can explode the cylinder group so that it merges back with the rest of the box's geometry... [image: R6dS_Capture.PNG]

No need to make it a component. You can also name the group and find it using the Outliner. Another approach could be color-coding the layer of the group. Using a color-by-layer style you could visually find the 'special' group. Only useful if you use a limited amount of 'special' groups and or use a logical system for the colors.
