My Edge Tools has a different simplification technique - no preview though. You specify how the max distance the simplified curve is allowed to deviate form the original.

Yes, Chris. The idea being if your were, for instance, in a Top (plan) view, and some of the your model structures were on the diagonal, you'd change the axes to match those structures in order to draw/edit them. If you wanted to zoom in on a particular area of those structures on the diagonal, the Zoom Window tool would be able to drag a bounding box relative current axes to define the zoom window. Otherwise, your forced to right-click on the user-defined axis, pick align view and then use the Zoom Window tool.

Dear John, The .sat file was created using AutoDesk's Inventor 11. If you want to weld the 40 segments of the circle, then soften the group first. After softening, Chris Fullmer's tool for finding the centre point can be used. Also note, the SU model needs to be scaled by 0.01 (I forgot to do this before posting). Hope this helps. Regards, Bob

Reclub: The screw script seemed to work (a bit quirky though). I did one revolution, made it into a component, and then made adjacent duplicates. Jeff: I'm not sure how you used Extrude Edges by Rail. Could you diagram your method? Thanks, John

If it would not take much coding/time could we try a protype (would want the edges to remain the "default" color)? I've got Rick Wilson's script to remove all colors from a selection so it would easy to reverse the process. John

The reason I asked is because one of our CAD persons was watching me build some structures with Arches and Domes in SU (we use a lot of piping and tanks in our models). They conceded that it was probably easier some to create some of these structures in SU rather than in AutoCAD. They were wondering if we could develop a workflow where I could create some models that he could import and use in his AutoCAD 3D sites. But on our first try, a many-sided cylinder didn't display correctly. The CAD person is relatively new to 3D cad, so I thought there might be some default settings in AutoCAD or specific commands that need to be done that they were unaware of.

Well, you could draw a scale in SketchUp, send to LayOut and make it Ortho with a scale (I chose 1" = 1', but this can be changed), vector render the model, add text labels in LayOut, and save as a Scrapbook called Scales.layout. That's what I did. Of course, you can create a prettier scale drawing, pick a better font, etc.. b [image: s9nW_ScaleSBimage.png] Scale.layout

Here is one script ("Revert Curve" in the contextual menu). Actually, there is no simple method, because changing the order of segments impacts the whole model structure for Sketchup. The attached script works fine on isolated curves. On curves which are linked to faces and other edges or curve, the scripts has to erase the edges and reconstruct the faces. So you'll loose the material and other properties of these faces. EDIT 01 Feb 10: Attachment removed. See this post to get the plugin http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=25710#p221170 Fredo PS: The contextual menu item appears on a selection which contains one or more curves. Elements in the selection which are not curves are simply ignored. You do NOT need LibFredo6.

@chris fullmer said: You can also just enter this into the ruby console: Sketchup.send_action(10624) and it will open that dialog box. As for claiming authorship of the code, I've got no idea. But as far as I know, TBD discovered the hidden camera dialog. You might have written the snippet yourself TIG Chris I make absolutely no claim on ownership of anything - the code I gave is all there is in the Ruby file that I got from somewhere - I don't remember writing the 'Camera Info' menu item... but then again senility is just round the corner perhaps I did... I can't recall where that send_action came from - you said TBD - I just found it here http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=57709#p57709 It's not on the list in the API Guide OR other expanded lists that have been published - in fact that very number is skipped over !!! Anyway - it works for PC users... sorry Macsters It'd be good if Sketchup.send_action("cameraWindow:") or something similar worked ! It'd be good to be able to get the 'text' action for all OSs from the numerical equivalent used on a PC...

Hi Thom: It just depends upon how colors are used in a model. I would invision the user having the choice to review or to do a one-click "auto" replace.

OK, I managed NOT to crash SU a couple of times now but still get weird results. Here, on one side of the column, the texture is messed up (like as if it was rotated vertically or something) [image: NUIX_StoneColumn1.jpg]Stone Column1.skp Then I cut the whole thing into half and morrored but of course, this doesn't lead to anywhere because that symmetry line if too ugly. componentizegroupsinstances.rb This script will do what you want - put it into the Plugins Folder. You need to type [or copy/paste] componentizegroupsinstances into the Ruby Console... However, it can easily have a menu item added if it's needed more frequently...
