in any sketchup version, select the underside of the wall, reverse this face, paint with a pattern, reverse face back, when cut it will show the pattern

I am trying to upgrade to 18 (through the Help Menu and through the SU website) and it says I'm currently using the latest version (2017).
What's up with that??
Pro users should be receiving update emails in the next day or so.
But, if you want to upgrade now, you can check your license status here: https://www.sketchup.com/license/renew
Then you can download the new version of 2018 on the website and plug in your license info: https://www.sketchup.com/download/all
It's odd that the model axes are different in each scene.I wonder what you are doing that makes that happen.I'd love to see your workflow in more detail.
Yeah I keep a bookmark for the 3D Warehouse on my bookmarks bar - it's much faster than the Component browser - download to the downloads folder then you can clean up the names and sort them into your local components folders. The 3D Warehouse is still weak, weak, but this trick helps a lot.
You can edit the dimension extension lines by double clicking on the dimension and then selecting the extension line. Change the End Arrow: value to change the length and Start Arrow: to change the space between the extension line and the point you're dimensioning to.

Also take a look at the drop down for the end style. Notice there are several straight line options. If you've got the first one selected, it'll be different from the last one in the list.
Good on you to get it sorted. I have some templates that tend to get updated annually. I wind up opening the template directly from LayOut. Then I make the required changes and save it as a new template with the year in the template name. Helps me know I've got all of them updated. then I go through the folder and delete the unneeded ones.
A quick read of the help section of their website shows that the plugin is only compatible with SU7 and SU8.

You may be right about the graphics card but scenes shouldn't show as modified. Open the list and select the scene again so you change the viewport back to the proper version of the scene.

Okay - It's official, I'm a moron today! I had my numbers lock key off. Geez!
I can assure you that you're not the only one. (me, but don't tell anyone)
Same thing when trying to orbit in whichever "non-orbitable" program.... until you relize........
A user's AppData 'Roaming' profile will be synced across a network.
http://www.blogtechnika.com/what-is-application-data-folder-in-windows-7/
So if you have two PCs on the same network the same users will 'shared' stuff in his 'Roaming' AppData folders...
However, most of the time your AppData stuff stays on one original PC [e.g. AppData Local folders] and therefore it needs manually copying between different PCs - either across a network or by other 'cloud' or 'hardware' methods...
Don't worry - Jim has encrypted it as an rbs anyway, making changing it academic - you can't.
If you were to PM Jim perhaps he'll explain these things better ?
So far I haven't found any problems with precision. Sometimes the endpoints on the model don't appear to line up correctly with the dimensions (or is it the other way around?) but it's possible to fix that by slightly resizing the viewport. It would be nice if that wasn't needed.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention my family is in Kerrville. We were there for about 2 weeks this summer.
That's only about an hour and a half away From me. With the worst drought in recorded history, the Hill Country isn't as pretty as it could be.
